Lepreachans arise is one of my fave tracks ever in any genre. I wish he would still play his old stuff which is way more original than anything he releases now

I am in the no-thanks-Bassnectar camp, and it's blatantly and irrationally prejudicial. Never been into that scene, so there you go.
Joe brings the heat selection-wise and in the mix. Up front, fresh, deep tunes, impeccable, locked in, fingers-on-the-record, slap-the-fader badman.

an all too common phenomena in the ableton-live/burning man scene for the "djs" to dance their asses off like mad men on stage. why not when you have all that extra time
as the laptop does your work of a dj for you!
great performer absolutely! best dj in the US, a far cry.
I could give you a laptop and a copy of Ableton, and I pretty much guarantee it wouldn't DJ for you.
As far as best DJ in the US, sorry peeps, I gotta pull from somewhere other than dubstep. Even the best dubstep DJs I have heard (save Chef, and he's UK) can't hold a candle to Stacey Pullen (Detroit), Traxx (Chicago), Danny Tenaglia (NYC), Z Trip (AZ), & Terry Mullan (Chicago).
Less time rewinding and looking for that ever elusive BIGGEST. DROP. EVER. Spending more time mixing, eqing, working efx and faders, paying attention to the musicality and composition of sets, and taking some chances doing something interesting might be a nice place to start. Hint. Hint.

thankfully I have never seen cats use Ableton in the lazy manner. if anything, using Ableton to perform makes things more difficult

A-fucking-men. I had the pleasure of going to a party where he played for 8 hours and it was almost a religious experience. Had me rethink everything I thought I knew about being a good DJ. Guys a fucking legend.

For the most part.. yes. But it really all depends on the show. Saw him at ACL afterparty last month and it was amazing.. but I heard for a while there he was dropping 6 or 7 rusko tracks in 1 set..

He puts on a good show but I dont know if I personally think hes the best DJ in the US (No diss)...but he is def one of the biggest on the west coast. Hoards or shforteen-teen year olds come from all over to his shows here, Dude sells out concert sized venues.

just to clarify, when i say best dj i wasnt really talking about technical skills (the dude does play a laptop afterall) i was speaking more about the entertainment and energy of his sets. its a fun goddamn show. i just never see people talking about him on here so i wanted to see what some real heads thought.
