production is good, but the vocals suck ass.

I never heard of Rihanna before I heard of Chris Brown, and now I hear about them every damn day.

I've still never heard a single Chris Brown song and I aim to keep it that way.

people actually like this chick's voice? people who can see her in her videos I suppose.

its no different than being in to Brittney Spears or Christina Aguilera. sure they're hot, but don't seriously pretend they make good music.

and, Timbaland sucks balls. sure he's a great producer, if you adore familiarity and blandness. he's about as musically bold as Rihanna's vocals are memorable.

So let me get this straight: the entire premise of this thread is that because Chase & Status are Dubstep producers (ignoring the fact that they've made D&B/Jungle tunes too) every beat they ever make is therefore a Dubstep track?!
It isn't even produced by C&S; it's co-produced with StarGate (a Norweigen duo who did Neyo - So Sick; Beyonce & Shakira - Beautiful Liar etc.)

It's not a Chase & Status song; it's a Rihanna song. It is R&B.

Timbalands stuff from the late 90's to the early 00's is some of the boldest, most sonically interesting pop/hip-hop/r&b out there and was a big influence on a lot of the early grime/grimey garage productions which in turn were hugely influential on the development of dubstep. Ask Dizzee or Oxide what producers they were into around them times and Timbo would be one of the first names they mention.

That new Britney tune 3 is fucking brilliant.

I'm not a big fan of C&S but I'd really like to hear what HudMo does with Rihanna. (no sextape)

Please name a Timbaland track that you think is "sonically interesting," I want to know what you think that entails. I've never heard of Dizzee or Oxide. You probably think Justin Timberlake is a great producer as well. Am I wrong?

Could you imagine any dubstep producer making a Justin Timberlake track without having been in N Sync? You'd say, what is this bland FM radio commercial interlude crap?

Remember, just because somebody is good at making money it doesn't necessarily mean they make good music. That's the whole Ghetto Rap philosophy of the '90s, which unfortunately crossed over into genres where people actually appreciate the music instead of the personality. You can be 100% personality and 0% talent if you have a producer who knows how to hook average FM radio listeners (re: not especially deep or picky) with perfect combinations of rehashed pop familiairity.

You're not really making much sense. There's too many amazing Timbaland beats to mention, current (old) fav:

Classic Dizzee

The first song is repetitive as hell and pretty boring. I understand musical taste is largely subjective and if you like this kind of stuff good for you, but my brain requires more stimulation than that. The second track is good and interesting, but its not Timbaland. That guy is obviously trying to do something new. Timbaland is not.

any dubstep producer could produce a timberlake track without having been in NSync.

Yes, they could, and no one would give a damn, because they weren't in N Sync. That was the point I was trying to get across - personality frequently outsells musical talent.

wanna know the problem with this track?
it's the fact that she just takes a beat that most of us already like and just goes COME INNNN COME INNN LA LA LA MAD HOUSE COME INNN COME ONNNN INNNNN.
i realize it's an intro, but COME ON!!!!! can u at least put a little effort into it?

And seriously, u guys are knocking Timbaland? Sure, I don't agree with most of the stuff he puts out nowadays, but the man has started enough trends! He's one of the most respected and versatile producers!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEF_-IcnQC4 TRY AGAIN - AALIYAH
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQPvgHEMCFs WE NEED A RESOLUTION - AALIYAH
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CBN3F-HPa4 PONY - GINUWINE.... THE DUDE WAS MAKING THIS SHIT IN THE 90'S!!! AND IT'S STILL HOT!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyUxdg0mm-E INDIAN FLUTE - TIMBALAND AND MAGOO
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ8ghnWhcjE BIG PIMPIN - JAY Z

Out of all the hip hop producers nowadays, Timbaland is one of the very few u simply can't dismiss. U don't have to like him, but that doesn't mean he's bad. Every time this guy puts out a few new beats, suddenly other songs pop up on the radio that try to copy what he did months before. He's a trendsetter, and not many producers can say that.
Just because it brings in money, doesn't mean it can be dismissed as crap. He made money because he was fuckin good!

On another note, I think Datsik should've produced Rihanna's entire album. I think that would be way better :D

I don't think a song is R&B just cos it's Rihanna on it - more to do with structure and sound and beat than who's singing it I would have thought.

that Madhouse tune has a lot of the hallmarks of dubstep production.

Timbaland's fucking great.

I'm dismissing him. I don't like anything I've ever heard by him. Sorry.
