how's it stupid? that's how London is from what I've seen. Nobody looks eachother in the eye, everybody is in a hurry, there's no good blazing spots except Hyde Park (from what I could find), everything's about 2 miles away from where you're sitting, it costs like £15 to get lunch, ridiculous amounts of traffic, ridiculous amounts of tourists, FAR too many policemen, there's sketchy people everywhere, everything is overpriced, its full of 'trendy' people, and the air is fucked and dirty.

I'm sure its great fun if you've lived there all your life, are a particularly outgoing person, have grown up used to how skanky the place is, know about 5000 people from across the city, have 7ft tall scary friends, and earn £40k a year - but I've never lived in London, don't particularly like people in general, don't know many people there, my friends aren't scary, and I'm fucking skint...so its shit for me.

No offence intended at all to you or anyone else who actually likes the place, but I fuckin' hate it!

dunno about you`re experience, but I stayed in London for just a weekend, two years ago in my two week staying in the UK, the rest of the time I stayed in Brighton, for me was the moust fascinating, vibrant place I ever seen, way better then Paris or Barcelona or any other city/capital from Europe. Yes it is expensive, very, and yes people are in hurry all the time but that`s something natural. For example a spliff in Hyde Park on a Sunday morning in a bloody February was a very nice experiencea amongst others I would move to London or the UK and leave my miserable and sometimes full of joy and accomplishments any time

It sounds like your experience of London is mostly based on central though - and you're absolutely right about it, for the most part. If you spent most of your time in the centre of London then you'd be fucking miserable after about a month. London's much better if you think of it like a collection of really good small towns, all surrounding a mile or two square of shiteness that you only dip into when you absolutely have to.

Agreed. London is the motherfucking shit - that can't be denied; but living in central is a mission not to be taken lightly. By the end of the christmas holidays I was scratching the door to get back to Spain. You never catch a break in London. There is never a day when you can think 'oh, this is a relaxing day', because there will always be a tnuc in a suit shouting down his mobile and shoving you through the tube gates. Apart from that it's incredible.

Funnily enough, I did quite enjoy living in central London for a year. Mainly coz I could just walk to University, no hassle with the tube and all that. It was also fairly quiet where I lived (just off High Holborn), especially on weekends as all the suits weren't working. So it was actually quite relaxing. Much better than when I lived in fucking Woodgreen. Hate that place.

It is intense as fuck if you're not from London. I remember reading some blog entry a guy had wrote on behalf of someone, it was a girl who came from some war torn African country and she had never seen a car let alone a white person in real life, literally lived in a mud hut and walked miles for water but some how she got her shit together and on a boat to England, then onto the streets, became a BI seller before finally learning English and getting a degree. Fucking incredible, totally and utterly humbling.

London's a really cool place, but I have to admit that whenever I go there I'm exhausted after a few days.
the city's like a sponge absorbing all your energy, and I see what is ment about the people being stressed out, not looking at each other/etcetera.
but then again,
I remember getting there the last time completly happy to be there again,
and I almost got run over by a woman on a bicycle by my own fault.
I smiled at her to apologise for my excuse and she smiled back at me.
I think it's just a matter of action/reaction.
people seem to be stressed out but when you talk to them they're pretty damn helpfull.
first time in London I couldn't find my way and everytime I asked someone they not only explained me how to get where I had to go, they escorted me there even though that ment they were walking back where they just came from.
overall a great city but you just got to make sure you can handle the pressure.

One thing what will always stick in my head about London is the July bombings. Everyone just sort of rolled their eyes, tutted and got one with things. It was so terribly British, stiff upper lip, don't make a big fuss of things, keep calm and carry on.

Anyway, this is one of my favourite sites. It sums up London perfectly... that is that London is an anciety and as such is palimpsest in it's nature. Each layer, each period, decade, past or moment is written on the city and you can still see the old peaking through the new and it is brilliantly illustrated by shop fronts!

Yeah Brigton`s great, the thing with the moving ist hat you need to do a lot of birocracy shit to work legally in the UK as a Romanian or Bulgarian citizen, brother of a mate works as a chef in the UK, near London or something, and he has a working visa or something similar, obtained after doing lots of legal papers at UK imigration whatever shit, even after 2007 when Romania joined the mighty E.U. Maibe someday I will give it a try dunno, depends on how stuff will go along here.
