but yea, DC is haterville for dubstep...which is odd, because 45 minutes up the highway in Baltimore, Maryland the dubstep scene is off the fucking charts:

its complete bullshit. I don't understand how a city only 45 minutes away has such a better appreciation for dubstep (despite the fact that baltimore is mostly a gully shithole)

my guess is you guys dont have a team of people properly representing the music. sure, you can go around and play dubstep and not understand why people arent coming out, thats easy. try going out and handing out fliers, start a promotion group, put in the work, and actually build the scene instead of complaining about how shit it is.

my little sister lives in VA right outside DC. she loves dubstep, and wants to come support, but DC is almost NON EXISTENT on the internet for dubstep. i had to dig through google for 30 minutes to find any information on dubstep in DC. the dc scene may be weak, but the promoters def aren't helping. dont blame the crowds.

a year ago nobody would book dubstep in atlanta. we started doing it, started our own posse, hit the streets, promoted 24/7, and now there is not a big act that hits the states that DOESNT come through atlanta. everyone from appleblim to skream has been here.

put in work.

Atleast he was having a good time. Big up to GLK for keeping lively even if the crowd was dead.

I wonder how much Rusko got for that New York gig :o.

No Junkyard Band videos Alec?
JYB all day!

....There have most def been more than a few good Dubstep nights in D.C. but they weren't being done with enough consistency and were lacking proper systems.
Steve's Bar Room was the place it could've taken off at but they can make in the neighborhood of 20Gs on a good weekend night at their bar so that's why we got shitty nights like Sunday & Tuesday. The 88 DC guys having Martyn, Headhunter & Ramadanman through was pretty sick but once again the fact that the nights are pretty sporadic doesn't do much in terms of building a scene. That is no knock to them (88 DC) at all b/c I know I sure as F wouldn't be promoting anything pricey in the vicinity of the District.

what timeslot Gas Lamp Killer had could have greatly influenced the vibe of the crowd, especially if it was early.

I suspect the dubstep scene is bigger in Baltimore because:
A. They have a regular event (Dub Nation) with other EDM nights put on by the same promoter (big up Steez!)
B. Baltimore is within driving distance of several universities.

The real question is why Martyn never does any local gigs seeing as he LIVES IN DC!

With that said, more go-go!

Is a good start. The Critical Conditon Band album is my personal favorite.

The problem with finding go-go music is that 90% of the tracks are low quality live recordings or covers of top 40, so the never get officially released. They can be found floating around Limewire, Youtube, etc. Wale's mixtapes also have a heavu go-go influence.
