@ astral
intro and sampling is fecking sick. dont think the snare goes down too well witgh the rest of the song just my opinion though. i liek the synths and pads that come in and the bassline is tasty. second drop could do with a switch, maybe a different drum pattern or a few extra hit hats to make it swing. other than that its a pretty cool song, i like your stenchman remix too

@ j saxton
sampling again is very good, i really should do more myself. anyways drop is nasty as per usual from you. i kinda felt the hats were a bit dull and a bit distorted :? probably just me though lol. bassline sounds heavy and the mixdown is pretty tight. thats about as much feedback as i can give for a minuite and a half but its still sick :D

@ blind prophet
the rain sounds amazing under the piano, which itself is very very good. the drop is subtle but very effective, i would of used pure sub for the bass out of preference in these kind of track but your doing your thing, no problem. the sfx that come in with the sub are sick aswell. didnt like the bassline on the second drop in all honesty, thought you should kept that same melody but maybe with the first bassline sound, if that makes sense. the outro is very cool though, good job.

here, feedback please

sorry for the sound quality, just threw this together quickly (got the ideas flowing). Using Ableton 8 Suite.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Hi man, Yeah in terms of mix, drums could be a lil louder,

I like the way you keep things switching up with dropping things in / out,

Here's mine, looking for feedback mainly on music/structure but feel free to crit my mix if you feel it needs it

Lots of people need to read the OP...

@ Collision:
I like that you're doing something new, and the original drum sounds are nice. The track feels a bit disjointed at the moment though. The piano that slides up doesn't really seem to fit with the track, it's just been stuck over the top. The pads/subbass also seem a bit out of place, i wanted experimental, weird bass, to fit with the vibe of the drums flow (which is great). Listen to stuff like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olFSPhCZ ... re=related
for what i'm getting at, though obviously don't just straight up copy.

@dubsac:
Nice movement in the synths at the start, though i'm not a fan of the "pre-drop" drum intro at 0.20. 1.01 to 1.46 wasn't really to my taste, and got a bit dull, you lost that movement you had in the first synth section by trying to go so over the top with your lfo. Chilled section in the middle was nice. Generally i'd just work sure on making sure you really get the synth and drums working together, especially when you've crushed the synth as much as this, getting a more obvious low mid/sub movement under it could help in this respect.

@Code zero:
I think it might be the mix not the mastering, and you're sounding pretty muddy. If you can get away with it without affecting the sound of the synths too much try to cut some of the 300-900Hz range in the individual tracks. Make sure you're lowcutting everythingthing that doesn't need sub as well. You'd be surprised how rubbish and muddy the random bass in hihats can make stuff sound.

Be careful with how much you're trying to fit in as well, there were a couple of points in the track that just seemed like they had almost had enough space, but not quite. The mix might help with this, but I'd listen through and really critically think if you need EVERY element in there. The section starting at 2.18 is a good example imo of somewhere that could benefit with being thinned out a bit, to make better use of the great minimal drumbeat.

thanks for the comments man... listened to your tune as well, your drums are sounding real nice and crisp. I like melody in my songs so that was my only qualm with your tune. your sub is bangin' as well.

Nice tune, feels a little empty at parts but thats subjective, I'd ad a very very subtle noise layer, It's already a deep track, and nothing says deep like hearing virtual wind and water, also, the panning on the hats is a nice touch, keeps things flowing.

Soundcloud
Decent tune, works well. Few things I'd change personally, Id mix that bassline up a little, gets a bit repetitive (I have that problem), and that piano is sitting to far foward in the mix for my liking, bit of reverb a little to the back, perfect.

Soundcloud
It's a good start, the synths could do with some weight behind, you have the sponge but no icing and chocolate chips.

Everything I say is subjective.

Now, do me a favor and go check the WIP thread, I failed with which thread I was in xD

@ collective:

Great vibe. Maybe a touch more drum mix up? I don't know, I like it the way it is, ALOT.

@dignan:

Yes! Sexy times ahoy. I find the piano to be cheesy because you can tell it's a synthesized version of a real piano. Make sense? Like, if you want a grand piano sound, then set up mics and record a grand piano. Don't use a MIDI "grand piano" sound. If you are going to use a midi piano, then why hide the fact? Use a nice synth sound. My only gripe. Really loving the track.

@Jsaxton:

What can one say?!? Fucking hot fire! During the filthy synth I wouldn't mind some gaps in the drums. In fact, i'd really like some gaps. Like when the bass note settles on the held note, gap the drums for a 1/4 beat or something so that it you really get that bass drop feeling! It's hard to explain exactly what I mean, wish I could hum over the internet...

@vulvavibration:

It's cool, real cool. I myself am a melody man, so (even though i try to be open) it sometimes bothers me when I hear samples thrown together that are in different and non-complimentary keys. It has an experimental feel. The bass is off (key) in parts.

@ Code Zero and Corrosion

Code Zero and Corrosion aka Excision and Datsik??? That is meant to be a compliment, btw. It's gutter. Gutter good. The "Die you drunken bastard!" part sounds lame IMO. Same with the "Soon you will be dead". The words are fine, its the way they are said. Sounds like whoever did it was trying not to laugh while talking into a low quality mic... am i right?

@dubsac

Your song wouldn't play.

@The Dub Lemon

hahahaha, funny shit. Great track. Some kick slide would be cool, it gets a little repetitive.

@CollisionCourse

Drums. You got em. I like em. Especially feeling 3:10 onwards. Bass: I don't like the high pitch whine that's tied into that particular bass. Know what I mean? EDIT: Is this a soundcloud phenomenon? IE an artifact from creating the waveform?

My track

Soundcloud

I can see what you're trying to do, I would get some more defined claps, they seem a bit ponsy and don't really give much drive to the track, they're just like ......."there". Adding more hat work would give the track more of a dancey vibe which I feel this track was going for? Correct me if I am wrong. Its a nice sounding track though.

Soundcloud

I would love to hear those hits what come in at like 1:25 extended more and the other stuff taken out, it'll sound more "vex'd" esque and give the track a more darker and haunting feel, at the moment I feel this tracks just trying to be a bit weird and isn't got a "play-out" flow (at least for myself) it starts and stops to much.. I would work on making it a track instead of just some chops of weird and interesting sounds.

Soundcloud

I like the drum work and the pads, not to keen on the growley sound, I can see you're trying to make contrast to the clean feel of the rest of the sounds, I dont' think it fits, spesh as the piano takes the past section totally out of context and the track kinda sounds like 2 really big ideas put into one tune, I'd think about what you'll rather have, piano or growl, I would go for the piano.

@ Legend4ry

Will have to listen to the track a few more times before making any really useful comments as it seems like a track with alot of depth. I like the sounds ghosting in around 2:20. More of that type of stuff to keep me interested would be cool.

@lowpass

I lack attention span, so I'm not the greatest for criticing slower more static songs. The drums are awesome in depth but i'd like to hear more variation in the timing. The song structure, in my opinion (remember: easy to bore) needs some variation for sure. Sounds like a ABABABA pattern. Where is the C buddy?!? You need atleast one C, if not some D and E! Also some sweeps on the synth would be nice. Like instead of just the DUH, DUH, DUH, DAAAAH that you got, go for a DUH, sweepDUH, sweepDUH, reverseintoDAH. Shit, this commenting thing is hard. Hope you understand atleast some of what I mean.

big big track man, absolutely love the pianos

the drop reminds me of the drop on caspa & rusko - one of the same because of the way the kick and bass come in

really like the vibe of this track, nice chilled subby roller.

but i really think it needs a new mixdown man. you need to bring the drums out more and turn the volume of the vocal sample and the piano stabs down because they are overpowering the rest of the track when they come in.

also loving those pads at around 2:30.

keep it up man

really liking the first drop man. nice sounding melodic bass progression and all the elements work really well.

those reversed samples (at least thats what they sound like) set the atmosphere perfectly

only thing i have to say is that i think the intro does need a bit of work, to me it just sounds a bit too random and has no structure with parts being introduced and taken out suddenly. but thats just my 2 cents tho

this is a badman tune

not much constructive criticism i can offer here

everything works together well, and the transition from the half with that dark growly synth to that other one (can't really describe it) is lovely

mixdown sounds top notch aswell, although i think the high pianos are a touch too loud

any chance of a 320? :D

nice man. the vocals fit the track really well and the bass and drums remind me of breakage productions.

i'd say the bass could be brought out a bit tho. take a listen to sidney samson - riverside (breakage remix) to get a better idea of what i mean

really nice track overall
