Again - for what it is, you almost might as well go for the VSTi version of it. Part of me wishes I had scoped around for one of the hardware ones.. but I got the virtual synth for £25 and I get great basses out of it (as well as leads). I think in order to get either of them to sound great - you have to do a lot to the sound, in which case, you need to decide whether it is better to get something cheap, but then spend extra money on colored pre-amps, plugins, etc.. or just spend the extra on a better synth.

i love a good vintage analogue. wonky as $hit, loaded with DC bias, a bitch to use live (and big and heavy), and often difficult to sequence (if it's even possible with voltage controllers - forget USB)... but the wrongness sometimes adds rightness.

I've got one of these:



cheap and basic analogue. one oscillator. basic lfo. sounds a bit poo, but nice when layered up through some fx.

the oscillator filtering on it is second to none. pure psychedelia.

As for getting someone to part with a decent working one at a sensible price... there's the rub

that synthfinder thing is pretty cool. too bad their price estimates are always way low.

Think they are just more inaccurate. I think they list the virus b for like $1200 or something. I'm seeing less than half that.

BTW ruckus, did you see that synth on ebay I referred you to, it sold for $400 bucks bro? That might have been worth it just to flip it, let alone to actually have and use one for so cheap!

yeah man. im gonna have to grab one next time. i looked through the completed listings on that , and a lot actually went for 350-400
