I think that if I was displaying the England flag in this country, and someone said to me that they don't like my England flag I would tell them to fuck off. That is not racism.
No but if you deliberately put it up to annoy/offend people then you probably would be. In East London at least.
If it offends people, then that is a bonus
Then you're a typical NF skinhead tnuc who probably walks around town yelling "pakis go home"

How the fuck have you come to this conclusion?

If anyone is offended by my flag, then good because I do not have time or care for for petty / stupid people like that.

Fuck the PC parade aswell, you're worse than the racists

people like you make me ashamed to be english

you probably insist on egg n chips when you go to spain instead of trying the local paella

Patriotism isn't racist or ignorant in itself. It depends on how and why it is expressed.

Fuck's sake...how did this convo turn to this shit?

GWA was moaning coz the flags are lame and pointless. Not because they're offending people due to any racist connotations.

The flags are a pointless thing for people to buy, and the fact people feel they need to buy them to show they're supporting their country is just a typical reaction from advertisement telling you that you must.

THAT is why England is grim. No other reason. End thread.

Oh...it's also grim due to the conservative government, the shitty weather (that's actually been quite nice recently) and the fact we're not going to even win the Word Cup again coz we're shit. But forget that..

Them flags have represented dumb stnuc from day dot.
At the beginning of the Crusades, a red cross on white was already associated with England because this was St George's cross, the emblem associated with England's patron saint. Although the Pope decided English crusaders would be distinguished by wearing a white cross on red, and French crusaders a red cross on white (Italian knights were allocated a yellow cross on a white background),[2] English knights soon decided to claim "their" cross of red on white, like the French. In January 1188, in a meeting between Henry II of England and Philip II of France, the two rivals agreed to exchange flags (France later changed its new white cross on red for a white cross on a dark blue flag).[3] Some French knights carried on using the red cross however, and as English knights wore this pattern as well, the red cross on white became the typical crusader symbol regardless of nationality.
For centuries, and as carried by crusaders throughout Europe during the crusades, it has long been referred to as "God's Flag". This interpretation of the Flag of Saint George as "God's Flag" was carried to America by early members of the Church of England and Anglican community in early American history.

yes the flag represented the crusades 1000 years ago. Now it means "england"

I wish I had seen this post before, fucking LOL. Just because some racists identify with the confederate flag, doesn't mean its a racist symbol. If that were the case, any flag would pretty much represent the same.

that was kind of in jest. but i remember going to south carolina i think and there were whole shops (stores) just selling confederate flag paraphernalia, there were even t shirts with the confederate flag saying "if this shirt offends you then..." AKA "im not racist but..."

My house hold is hanging one up on my house, even though I pay half the mortgage I think it looks tacky.

But it's for the world cup. If it stays up after that then heads will roll.

I remember the good old days when flags were a grassroots movement of true patriots. Now all the noobs are just bandwagonning the scene, going mad to cries of "ENGUHLAND ENGUHLAND!!". Fuckers just look at you weird when you ask "You heard of England?", they never even heard it pronounced that way before. It's so shit. I wish we could go back to the good old days :(

I left the house for first time since Friday today. Went through an estate where almost every house had an England flag on it. Was kinda cute

Someone on Lavender Hill has hung the biggest England flag outside their house. Talking like bedsheet size here.

My neighbour had a Czech Republic flag flying for one of the Euros, my Fish n Chip shop had a Portugese on flying. To think waving a flag about during a period of national support is fucking moron, every country does it.
