Faith is irrelevant here. I'm sure it'd be just as ridiculous, if not more, if it was Mormon dubstep or Muslim dubstep. Just another example of how trends are used to sell whatever, no matter how awful or unrelated. I mean.. even religion is trying to ride the coat tails of the dubstep spotlight. rofl.
true but i think christians are picked on a little more
also when i make dubstep i dont really make it "christian" i have rap for that
Christian rap? THEEE WORST. Sorry duuude

What someone personally believes in shouldn't be relevant to music. Any large organisation of people be they religion or corporations will inevitably try and use trends such as those found in music to attract people - one could say it's similar to how the pop music industry works since their primary goal is to make money - for religion it's to attract a following.

It doesn't bother me whether someone's a Muslim or Christian or whatever, just so long as they make good music. A lot of reggae music talks about the coming of Jah i.e. another way of saying God but this doesn't bother me at all when I listen to reggae.

Same with dubstep, as long as they're not trying to push it in my face or actively market it as being 'so-and-so dubstep' then I'll always try and maintain an open mind and judge it for what it is :)

Go ahead and write music about god, whatever, if that inspires you then cool... but I don't see why you have to slap "christian" onto every genre just because the lyrics are about christianity, it just seems so preachy and, like, "hey everybody, i'm a CHRISTIAN!". There are a million rock songs about love, but it's not called "Relationship Rock" or whatever. What's with some christians and trying so hard to separate themselves from everyone else?

i think many do it to be separate from the sinful main stream rap/hiphop
when i say "i listen to christian rap" people will think christian
if i was to say "i listen to rap" most people would think SEX MONEY DRUGS

same, but apparently the tracks are ridiculously aweful sounding. Can't judge myself, because they won't play for me.
Yeah, but as far as I know, the op wasn't showcasing the tunes you're speaking of, he was just saying he's a christian looking for another christian to collaborate with.

1: People should absolutely write about their beliefs, be they sacred or secular... its just you're sealing your own grave if you jump headfirst into [insert religious-based genre], so don't cry when no one outside your church youth group likes your music

2: If you think christians get picked on more, its because no other religion is anywhere near as full of folks bigging up their own faith, publicly declaring their faithfulness, and hellbent on converting others, as well as projecting their own beliefs, values, holidays, and social conservatisms onto others who don't necessarily give 2 shits about those beliefs -- Most other religions just don't really do that, so there's less opportunities for taking digs at them in the same way

3: I love black churches and it seems they were made for dnb parties

4: Watching christian rap artists struggle to maintain a cocky, sexual and aggressive delivery/persona, while singing lyrics about the opposite, is a musical identity mishap and thats why it will never work -- that type of music was borne from the loins of hedonism, aggression, individualism, showmanship, etc. its just sad watching people go "we better jump onto something trendy and exciting so that we can get more young people into church" -- it's like watching an animal struggle to get out of a paper bag

5: RnB/Soul/Gospel/Blues in the church works like magic, it is more effective and sounds better... that music was borne from blacks worshipping, it sounds fucking awesome, churches have great acoustics for it, and its not like someone trying to be something they're not.. it is also more authentic, i think those sounds and lyrics match perfectly, and the congregation, preachers, and choirs all really feel it and enjoy it and believe it, rather than just desperately trying to appeal to a younger crowd by biting T-Pain and Kanye West.. or fucking Nero or whatever

6: when i say "i listen to hip hop" , most people don't assume anything, they usually ask what kind i like, and then i tell them i rate Common, Talib, Jean Grae, MF Doom, and the like
See it isn't just "SEX MONEY DRUGS" vs. "Praise Jesus" --- there's actually a lot of good shit

Everything I do is because of God so it aint that I make tunes that you'd call strictly christian or anything like it but you can cound all my music as an act of worship. As for 99% of christian music, the heart's there but the talent aint. Stop picking on op people he just wants to be loved
