rusko also used the same FX sample in "rubadub shakedown" that he did in "district lines." what a faker. also, those are the best two tracks on the album. coincidence? hmm....

I kind of think of a lot of presets just as instruments in themselves. Tons of songs are made on a guitar in standard tuning, but people don't complain that it's a guitar.

Then of course it's cool when folks experiment and change up the tunings or run it through effects pedals, but when you just leave it as-is it can still sound good.

that said, the thing that kind of gets to me is when bigger artists use like... Garageband loops or things from Soundtrack... that violin riff that we've all heard, or any of the other riff-loops. Even if it sounds cool it's hard to full enjoy knowing you already have that exact sample because it came with your Apple computer.

Like check out "Secret Things" by Ken Andrews (would have posted a youtube but couldn't find a good one). He's such a smart creative guy and when I hear this song I can't shake the feeling of slight annoyance when hearing the violin sample. The song kicks ass though and I feel bad that I can't shake the feeling haha.

Who cares? Tunes are tunes, no one needs to see the sausage being made.

If someone tried to impress me by playing Saxon on a guitar I would punch them in the fucking head.

spot on mate. if people dance to it and rusko has no problem with the fact that we're all on here talking about how lazy his production is. then fair play to him. there's no problem

but if he was hoping to get away with it then thats a bit of a loss of artistic integrity in my book.

we don't all use presets. i don't, the presets are probably better than my patches, but they won't always be cos i'm always learning. how can you expect to ever do better patches than the presets, or make your productions better if you just use whats served on a plate to you. sure, the track gets done faster, but you're basically shooting yourself in the foot.

at least, he used a preset, and now???

If a paint artist uses a instant color for his new thing he doo, just because it fits and it looks great, is the artist now lazy? or is he not anymore a artist?

i think, we all should doo first a album greather than OMG and than talk about. If you are talking from the producers point of view ;)

Nah, brutal electro sounds dope, so much so that it's used in 1/3 of all broish toons.
