what are you referring to? the guy calling neurofunk lame? just curious
Not that specifically.

Mainly the whole shit on this or that genre attitude.

It's all relative.

I like DNB and Dubstep and I've noticed this tension between the two scenes already.

DNB heads hatin' on dubstep and vice vresa.

I think the two are pretty vital in a world of dead rock and shit pop.

I'd rather see two powers unite than fight.

But maybe thats just my world view after seeing nothing but shit negativity/propaganda/war.lies for so long now.

It's all the same music @ a different BPM.

IMHO

I still love drum and bass the way i still love techno and old skool hardcore.. but for me there comes a point where the scene/music changes not just formally but in the vibe and drum and bass is for the most part stuck in something of a revialist rut, much as I love the tunes around at the minute for example lime wax's everything is awesome, yet I cant help but think Ive heard this before... a few years ago.
dubstep has captured my imagination like d+b did in 94. For this reason i feel that i should throw all my energy (in terms of djing, going to nights, buying records and generally spreading the word about dubstep) into trying to help create a scene here in newcastle, I havent turned my back on any form of music I have ever liked .. I still love metal, punk, grunge, hip hop, techno, hardcore,warp/rephlex/mu stuff but when asked what im into dubstep is my reply because it is the music which makes me go weak at the knees ...
For me dubstep is the only music at the moment which is breaking new ground .. all the rock stuff about now is stuck in the same revivalist rut as drum and bass is, nice tunes but nothing that truly makes your jaw drop or your guts go goey.. so many dubstep tunes do that to me ... I can like more than one kinda music but for me there is only ever one type which has such a dramatic effect on my nervous system... and for me its dustep

a hater I aint... soldier for the cause I am!

but please god in internet heaven dont let this forum turn into DOA!!!

I'll only listen to D&B now if its folk like Tech Itch, Dylan, Bkey, Limewax, Spl and stuff Been progressively that way for the last 3-4 years. Now it's the norm. Have been djin since I was 13. I'm 25 now.

I cant say Ive noticed any tension ! ill hold my hands up iv been a junglist for nrly 12 years ..but have got into Dubstep through other people introducing it to me (emtek !), we booked Slaughter Mob at London Zu in October, and Ive always been a Jay da Flex fan and his sounds progressed in the dubstep direction more now. The Dubstep Warz thing was the best thing ive listened to on Radio One for a long time and it got me really excited (people seem to be sick of hearing that on here so sorry if its a bait one!)

And if u wanna see d&b and dubstep unite get yerselves down to Herbal on march 29th. We got Dupstep upstairs hosted by Halo Recordings (special thanks to Slauhter Mob for sortin this!):
Slaughter Mob - Skream - Search & Destroy - Scientist
Hosts for the nite: Vicious & Dangerous

Err. Nah.

Spot on mate

I used to play dnb 92-97ish sometimes with Bailey.. Was also a regular up at metalheadz @ blue note...
That place had a 'family thing' going on much the same as the vibes going on in the rapidly growing dubstep scene now.

DMZ @ Leeds last month was like a trip back in time.

People going out just to appreciate the beats and have a good time.

Dubstep hits the mind body and soul now like DnB did for all 96 souljahs.. that's where I've come from..

Perhaps the situation is like that in UK, but I can tell you that it ain't the case over here in Belgium!!! Dubstep 's getting HUGE response and support from the d'n'b and nu'breakz scenes here. There 's our website www.breakz.be (by far the biggest dnb portal in Belgium) who 's changing from a purely dnb site towards a dnb/nu'breakz/dubstep site (3 subdomains: dnb.breakz.be, nu.breakz.be and dubstep.breakz.be)

Perhaps there might be some rivalry between some scenes, but I don't think you should generalize it.

We say: BASS UNITED! :)

I must say I only recently stumbled upon this music. Downloaded Sek's set thinking...hmm, dubstep, what ever that is. Variety is good, give it a go. HOOKED. within the first two min. of it, I knew it. I will listen to pretty much anything, but it takes a lot for my jaw to drop. I hadnt been this into a sound since d'n'b/jungle a decade ago. Hadnt been guying up vinyl much in the last year or two, hadnt been all that excited about going out to a night in a number of years, save a few special nights. Thats all changed.
I think variety is key. Would never say I have gotten out of d'n'd/jungle, still spin a bit of everything from dub/downtempo to house to d'n'b. But it certainly is nice to have found a FRESH new sound.
It doesnt matter when or how people find something, I know some people who are just now giving electronic music in general a chance. and thats wicked. no jadedness about "oh well, you should have been there when this or that was going on". Its where their intentions are, if it is genuine, or if it is image.
I certainly am greatful for the new sounds, but having said that, i hope that i continue to find something different everytime i am beginnig to get a little "ho hum" about things.
Having said all that, I think its sorta funny that people state that d'n'b lost its vibe/soul what have you in the last year or two. Its all relative to what you are looking for, listening for. I started feeling that way back around 98 or so, and actually think things have gotten somewhat better. A nice bouncy vibe has come back, so new ragga licks and such. Not all restricted to dark, hard tek. There is soo much music being produced, that to say something has lost its soul is kinda outlandish......there are still people producing tunes that if you had to categorize them, they would fall into "'95 ragga jungle" style, but they are 2005 release.
The scenes are always changing, its just a question of finding a nice little back-eddy in the raging masses that provides you with what you are looking for.
wha, tangent!
peace

Dubstep and DnB are apples and oranges. How many times do people have to be reminded that music is subjective.

I love 5% of all music, (yes... I'm picky). But there is that 5% in all different styles that do it for me.
