Cheers man. Looks like I'll be doing some shows with MC Messinian and possibly some of the other simplify agency folks (hulk, symbl, sluggo) this winter. Talked with a few folks in Denver so should be coming through once we get the details sorted. Really excited about possibly coming through. Heard nothing but high praise from your scene.
Nice, I'm looking forward to it. Everybody that comes through Denver seems to have a blast

I'm saying enjoy the fact that here in the US we aren't weighed down by the sub-genre divisions going on elsewhere in dubstep. Words like "beautiful things" would imply a positive outlook on our scene here, and embracing the fact we have quite a bit of freedom and acceptance for filth, brostep, roots and classic dubstep.
my thoughts exactly.
for those of you in the UK, do you (or would you) accept artists that produce some filth and brostep, but also produce some roots stuff? Or (just for shits and giggles) a ridiculous opposite ends of the spectrum collab... Burial and Datsik, or something such?

Dubstep in real life in Central Texas = mad fucking hipsters who mostly get down to brostep, brostep, and more brostep.
I dig the scene here though. It's huge, and all the cats around here get down to it. So fuck it, it's fun.

It's really hard to put a finger on it but i'm going to put a finger on it anyways!
i think it's called diversity
some people get down to green, others get down to orange, some will talk shit about the greens, some will talk shit about orange.
it's the same in any place with any form of music
some people incline to A, while some incline to B.
All i can say is we should be happy that we listen to DUBSTEP and not md eden

no matter if you like WOBBLE WOBBLE *movie sample* WOBBLE WOBBLE or that "i want to take acid while listening to this*

A burial and datsik collab, first of, will never happen. If it should, then it wouldn't work. Burial is a don but he can't make datsik sound good.

it's just a thought experiment. obviously it's remarkably unlikely that that sort of collab would ever happen - the point was in the hypothetical that if it did happen, would you give it a chance, or would you immediately dismiss it because Datsik's name was on it.

well just look at what Flying Lotus does to Lil Wayne
same exact scenario (except that Datsik isn't necessarily shitty music, it's just not to my taste)
Lil Wayne's name on it doesn't scare me away, because I also see Flying Lotus' name on it, which guarantees quality.

a counter argument would be to look at borgore and diplo.
borgore = fart sounds
diplo = genius
borgore + diplo - sunsets = shit

From what I gather, the majority of the US has latched onto one style (sub-genre as you put it) of Dubstep....with very little variation in style (even though there are some amaaaazing producer in the US)..and I for one, don't think that is a positive.

I currently go to Brown University where Diplo performed this Spring for our end of year concerts. The 'brostep' portion of his set definitely turned a lot of kids onto dubstep in general, and I noticed that lots of students who never knew the genre were talking about it, playing it at parties, etc. after his show. It's not perfect, but now when I DJ parties there I at least get to play some kind of dubstep, even it is mostly Datsik/Flux Pavillion/Doc P et al. and sometimes I can mix in something more far out. So yea, the US scene is all about the party/rave style of dubstep right now, but imho thats better than nothing.

See, I don't get why Datsik and Excision (and etc.) get bad rep on here. I mean, just watch shambhala performances and it looks and sounds insane. The atmosphere is just awesome, I'd love to see Excision live. This is coming from a guy who listens to Burials Untrue album far too often. I like having the balance between listening in my headphones and then through a big ass soundsystem.

diplo always spins nuff dubstep, it's usually pretty good. it would be pretty dumb if he started playing "Anti-War Dub" all of a sudden. everything has its place. dont pay attention to labels.
