Still buying and spinning records...coming up on the ten year anniversary of when I got my first decks! :)

Although I still love mixing, I don't spend nearly as much time w/it as back in the day! :D That being said, I don't care enough about the whole "dj'ing thing" to switch it up and start going cds/digital...I'm content to be left behind in the dust and just keep buying the odd few vinyls that are worth the purchase. :D:

In my opinion vinyl puts a different level on music... it just feels + looks so good!!
wouldn't consider changing to CD, maybe due to not ever having used a good quality set of CDJs but just didn't enjoy mixing on them!

currently i'm still in love with buying records since i haven't been at it for that long, so i can't see myself switching to anything else at all in the future. it just gives me a different level of satisfaction by owning a 12" copy of a release as a opposed to a cd or mp3. i may grow out of that though

I use wax. I think a lot of the Dj's that used to use vinyl have switched over to serato though. Mala still cuts acetates, so does coki, loefah uses digital and youngsta uses cd's for the new stuff. Whatever suits you really, i love the feel of vinyl and responsiveness and control of my technics, personally.

Still haven't got my second turntable but have accumulated just over 50 12"s in the past 5 months and have more I want to buy. Buying them is so addictive.

I love the feeling of pulling a new vinyl out of its sleeve for the first time, it never feels the same after that first one

i'm fairly rubbish at mixing vinyl but i still wouldn't consider swapping to digi even though it would make things a hell of a lot easier. i've got serato but i barely use the thing. it just doesn't compare to vinyl. for me vinyl is a lot more than merely a format for listening to music. everything about it appeals to me, from the warmth of the sound, to having a physical thing to look at and pick up, to the obsessive collecting and archiving of it. the only downside is the sheer amount of space it takes up. my expedits from ikea are almost full (again) and i've not go the space to put more up in my room so i've got no idea what i'm going to do after that, not that it's going to stop me - buying a guy's collection of a few hundred records at the weekend

this

i'm not even joking when i say that you should seriously consider the consequences of your impending vinyl addiction when you choose vinyl over another format

DO NOT start buying vinyl. You will never stop.

New years resolution is to cut as many dubs as possible. No fuck given if people appreciate it or not. I'm doing it because I respect the roots and history of our community and I believe that to cut to dub, you have to have a level of belief in your music that is more than just slapping a tune on a CD and having done with it.

That said, I may end up using CDJ's, but only alongside turntables too.
