On-Topic, Dubstep isn't going anywhere but forward. Look around here and everyday you'll find beautiful intricate tracks that refuse to be categorized. That's really what underground dubstep has become now.

And over time, the new scene attracts buzz and grows and more people get into it and start to calcify the rules and structures and stick to the stuff that appeals to a big audience and doesn't confuse saturday night clubbers by being too weird and unpredictable. And before you know it the underground is a new mainstream and there's a bunch of renegades off on the margin doing a new underground thing.

And yeah, the bad news is that that's happening with dubstep like it happens to everything else, but the good news is that there's a lot of new exciting stuff coming out from the margins.

live show as in playing an mp3 file called "bring me the horizon - sleep with one eye open (tek-one remix)" unmixed and having a dude "mc" over it by screaming along to the tune?

@topic: i dont know where it's going but i know where it's at right now in germany. everyone kinda has heard of the term and it's either "dubstep? aw no i hate it it's just random noise" or "YEA MAN DUBSTEP CHECK MA MOUSTACHE BRO"

seriously, i just stopped telling anyone that i like dubstep because i'm so sick and tired about having to explain for hours that i'm not into gnarly midrange cack at half speed. it's a guilty pleasure.
i think this is what black metallers must feel when people are like "black metal? oh yeah, stuff like dimmu borgir right? they rock!"

dubstep's future... as much as i wish for it to simply blow up like garage did and have something glorious rise from the ashes, i guess it's gonna turn into a solid genre like trance or house.

No question sick beats are still being made and will be made into the near future but I wonder if more and more artist kind of abandon the genre called "dubstep". I think it's already set in motion tbh. I have been predicting a post-subgenre electronica for a long time. It's just a matter of boxes being cast aside. Maybe the biggest hurdle is the dj paradigm. Another hurdle which goes hand in hand with the dj is the fucking chart. It's like a war to see who can get the most obnoxious sounding shite and as far up the chart as possible at the same time.

Nope I have no issue with Atmospheric, remember where I am America Fuck Yeah!

I am actually referring to this which unfortunately imo will be the future of dubstep here. Please kill me!

Sorry if I offend the emo people, I was never into it so I am kinda clueless as to what the kids are calling what these days.
