But like, imagine if dubstep had never split from garage/grime, just stuck around, demanding it was still garage god damnit. To the point it choked the garage out of record stores and lead to huge shitstorm wars like this. We wouldnt have the progression we have now, to where we can sit here and look at new stuff which has evolved out of dubstep...amphibian wrote: The problem is Dubstep was the birth of a genre that was far bigger than it thought it was, and people are so frightened to split the genre because "GENRES SUCK OMG!!!"

I wouldnt say SKrillex is a big time producer at all.Carry on dreaming of being bigtime producers making half assed lame tracks

The only difference between this and evolving out of garage is these guys wont admit they have something totally different on there hands here, sit here, insist nothings different, when it clearly is.

Good point!VirtualMark wrote:
This is a forum for discussing dubstep, and as such people should be encouraged to post their questions about anything. Also it would be more helpful if we all posted our results when trying to make a sound. To this date, i've still not seen one example of someone else making a datsik transformer sound, despite all the threads and stickies apparently telling us how to do so.
VirtualMark wrote:I'm not defending this youlotareajoke troll, but he has a point. I've seen a lot of people ask how to make a certain type of sound, and get negative responses. I don't understand the attitude, surely making a synth patch is half of the work in a dubstep track?
Also, this skrillex guy actually has some talent in my opinion. So what if he is from an emo background? I never knew that when i heard his tracks, and i thought they were pretty awesome. Midrange cack or not, it sounds awesome played full blast through the sub in my car. I'd love to be able to make sounds like that, but i know theres no point in asking on here as i'll just get the standard 'resample, bitcrush, chorus, see midrange bass thread' etc.
Please excuse the moan, i'm just tired of reading a question about a certain sound, and that thread turning into pages and pages of negative responses. It would be nice if the moderator could delete all non relevant posts to a topic, as reading through this forum can sometimes be a chore when trying to find actual information. /rant

i dont think so mate. It's not just about skrillex though is it, it's the movement as a whole. If i were to play that kind of sound to my mates who've been listening to all kinds of genres (even people who listened to dubstep before 2007) they'd be like .... wow wtf is this shite, it's been the same response everywhere, im at brighton uni ive met a lot of people and gone to a lot of houseparties, there's hardly anyone who respects dubstep anymore because the likes of skrillex have turned what used to be soulfull heartfelt genre into a lame screechfest. Not all midrange stuff is bad though, i like some datsik every now and again, and yea i suppose this is the natural progression of the genre .... the thing is this happened 3 years ago (probably more) and it hasnt really moved on from then, there's nothing fresh which is why there's a reason people say its hard to find good dubstep these days, and its because the market is saturated with crap like this. Im not saying the his tracks arnt well produced, they are, but the music he makes is garbage, emo or no emo.vazt wrote:Not going to win me any friends but I think you guys kinda bring it on yourselves. The troll is how people on the outside looking in view your guys commentary. You cant possibly think your tunes are better, can you? Because if your tunes aren't better and you are taking pisses, he wins. Somebody posts a tutorial on a production board and it turns into a 4 (more to come) page smug fest. Anytime something like this happens I see Futures untold coming in with his favorite term 'midrange cack' . Keep fighting the good fight and losing. Some of you guys need to get out the house once in a while to be fair. Or keep making pads in your mom's basement, up to you.
