I remember when I first started producing hip hop in the early 90s. You have to go out and buy your sampler and your drum machine. You had a reason to become good at it because you had that investment. You either got good, or sold your stuff. Now most rap producers just crack fruity loops and you can tell they don't know jack. The music itself suffers in terms of quality as well.

That's another great reason for people to put some money into this hobby. Personally after spending upwards of a grand on this hobby (over 2k if you count the new laptop I bought to produce on, but obviously use for everything else too) I feel very invested in it so spend a lot of time and effort trying to get better and using the stuff I've paid for.

no dude, because 90% of all them producers probably makes pure and utter shite music (but with a "perfect" sounding crispy mix)

production isnt easy and production isnt all about how "nice" sound u can achieve.

anyone can learn how to get a pure and perfect sound just u spend enough time

the "difficult" bit about producing is getting inspiration, originality, soul, to put ur own flavor in what youre doin really just put out all ur heart in what ur doin...

i dont believe production is neither easy or hard,yes sureit was hard to compherend everything in the beginning but still fun and interesting.
but production /for me/ is just a good and proper way to let all your thoughts, feelings, imagination, etc, become something concrete...

and yeah i read something in the thread earlier about everyone wanting to become producers just in an instant.. people need to understand that u dont become a producer overnight no matter how fancy ur gear is... just as u dont become a skilled musician over night... just because u started playing guitar,got urself a really expensive fancypants guitar, took some online lessons or whatever probably dosent mean ur gonna be playing insane solos and riffs orwhateever it takes years of practice.. unless ur jimi hendrix

just the same with electronical music u dont necssecriliy gonna be making good music if ur starting out and first ting u do is get yaself a pro daw, the hottest synths, the freshest of the freshest samples, and all tutorials u need on utube...

my definition of easy may be a bit different than others...but i've been beating on my maschine for a while now and still haven't made shit i would show anyone. I'm guilty of crackin a program...but i've got a grand + in equipment regardless. i'll buy it when i feel like the investment on that front is worth while. for now....i randomly hit pads until i learn more haha

this, there are too many people who just dont give their own flava to the tunes they make.
i dunno if i am capable of expressing myself through sound intentionally though.
everything i do ( when i comes to producing a track) almost feels like a happy accident.
but im pretty noob still so yeah i dunno

Having spent a whole 2 weeks on JUST my drums (Kick, Snare, Hi Hats, Breaks) I can honestly say production is NOT EASY. Even after 2 weeks I am still not happy with the drum sounds yet.

In short, If you want to make awful sounding tracks and settle for a naff sound then yeah, production is easy as pie. But if you want to perfect everything to the max. not settle for second best and make your productions sound pro, then NO it is not easy at all. It takes alot of experimentation, time, patience, practice and to a certain extent knowledge.

As we all know, the longer and more you produce the better you become and the easier it becomes. But until you get to that 'POINT' its quite the struggle.

Is production too easy? No.

Although you have highlighted the fact that posting on a forum is too easy.
