naw bro, there is definitely more going on in buddhaz blade, but the highs are just gnarly, and musically, I think there is actually less going on. Think in Bronze, despite the points where it kind of runs a little too low on energy (surely because it was built so quickly) the musicality, the space the restraint, on point, gnucka.

No offense to anyone involved, just speaking candidly and as if amongst friends, even though I've got no clue who Bronze or Buddha is.

Exactly my point homie. Bronze is by far the apparently simpler of the two tracks. Far less going on. Buddha'z got a ton of shit worked in and out of there. And that is why I think people vote for it (other than the fucking ace battle royale vocals), cause they can hear the work. It's right there for them to hear, the effort, the thought, etc. But in a track like Bronze, you can't hear the work. The work was spent in the reduction of complexity.

That is why when people see paintings like this:


They say, oh I could do that, it is so simple and then roll their eyes at what art has become.

Especially when they compare it to something like this:



Where it is apparent, right there on the face of the canvas, the amount of labor, thought, and effort that went into the painting (and so it must be good).

I suggest that both paintings have an equivalent amount of work, thought and effort, though it is apparent to casual observers only in the later.

I, of course, prefer the former. Simply a matter of taste though, bro.

But you do have to admit the "mastering" on buddha is a little bit painful.

Also nowaysj, I totally admit that. The highs in bhuddaz are a bit shrill but out of the 3 tracks left it's the only one with any musical merit whatsoever. I find the other two unlistenable. Judo sounds like it could well be someones first track and bronze sounds out of tune the whole way through. Also to my ears bronze sounds the more cluttered of the two by far. We can both agree that scorpion should have won though so let's leave it at that...

I wanted Scorpion to win as well.

I made Bronze Eaglefist btw. Scorpion really should have won I think. No offense to whoever made the winning track but its not really coherent; There are a lot of random samples that don't fit the track. Fair play though, the drums and subs are good.

Mine definitely loses some energy part way through. I made this one reeeeally quickly. First day was drums and the sub and lots of eq and the second day I had class all day so I got up about 3 hours before the competition closed and finished it, adding all the pads, stabs and everything else.

Looking forward to having a week to work with; It's long enough to get a lot done but not too long to lose the initial inspiration.
