Heheh, well nothing magic about it. I just don't export naked files (exported or not, the signal is the same on the master...) That saves you time and cluttered folders and you can still mix dynamics.

I simply asked you (a couple of times) why you like to work with single wav files. I guess like noways stated it's a psychological thing. Maybe it's the same for you.

For clarification sake, not strictly psychological, but that is reason enough.

Not at all, it's because I've had experience before of wanting to get a tune professionally mastered and finding the project file corrupt and only having an already compressed version available. Totally gutting. From that day onwards I vowed I would always render uncompressed out of Ableton and do the finishing touches in another program so my mp3s are always compressed and my wavs never are. IMO it's the only way to work.

I hear you. With ableton I just save the projects as (those ableton project)zip's. But I only use ableton for live/gigging. When I finish a project in my DAW I have a whole folder with the final stems as separate renders (devided in freq/instrument groups) plus all the files used and mixer states/presets. Not only as a backup but for future use in resampling etc.

Lost alot of work when my mobo died. From then on I have everything backed up daily via ghost. And I occasionally upload the bare essentials to my server. I cant afford losing stuff these days.

i used to use T-RACKS for my rock stuff, great program. affordable too.
