go for it. also add some fast delay on there ... gives it a robotic quality.

read on doa's grid. thats my thought.

and dont limit yourself.. experiment... no rules...

F*** yeah man, no limits, id say almost every good bass has most likely been made from trial and error... trying things that people would say wont work, and making them work

i have a thought to share :

ive always seen things this way concerning rule bending :

theres what i call the punk-like approach... where u kinda break whatever u believe is a rule... to make things work however u feel they should work...

and theres what i refer to as the jazz-like approach... where u start off learning all of the rules, and master them.. and then.. break them

both are good. as long as u put ur whole soul into it, and self-criticize..

Tbh there are some real good tips and links in this topic, if you're into this kind of stuff. I read through most of the old datsik/excision topics, and the techniques they explain are quite good in general. Though what most people seem to forget is that you can't just add all the effects you want and hope you get a CLEAN sound that actually sounds well made.

If you wanna go for processing and resampling your sound, it's important to first understand how your base sound works and what you can and cannot do, what makes it actually sound better and what makes it just sound 'filthy' yet too distorted/unclean (which is IMO where most 'filth' producers nowadays go wrong, and where a good set of monitors come in REAL handy).

I experimented alot with it and imo granular fx chains and layering gets you the closest (again, understand what they do, how they combine and when you can safely apply ), and I put it all together this weekend and got this result:

I started off with a single saw oscillator in Massive, so the trick really lies in just knowing what you're doing I think.

ok well just layer a sub bass with a high screechy noise, a bit of LFO on pitch, and call yourself Dr. P but seriously tho. tell me if you need a more detailed explaination

true, but at the same time...... haha. im in love with this bass, its not a matter of me making my own, it would be the joy in knowing it exists in my folder full of massive patches, so that if the time comes, i have the comfort in knowing its there, and ready to be used

Actually , no. Did I get myself a shitload of new presets and fx chain presets? Yes , and can I work from new , other base sounds to get my own sound through the techniques I learned? Hell yes

it was a great learning experience, and i bet that if you took the time you just spent making that useless post instead of actually reading what i'm trying to contribute to the forum here, you'd have more of a clue.

But haters gonna hate init

@Yarp: I'm not going to expand on every setting I gave every plugin, just work with a simple saw wave sound and keep distorting it little by little. I mainly used Massive for a base sound, apply small amounts of distortion, export, and used Alchemy for resampling and layering the sound.

hey man, i meant no disrespect. and i appreciate your advice, in other words, when i read over this hungover tomorrow, ill listen to what you said, and work from there haha
