Watched an interview with Deadmau5, the man charges $100,000 per show, but he brings the show with him (the big square light stage, crew). When he was at the Guvernment here in Toronto at the end of december, tickets were $120+ but from what I hear he always has a wikid show.

I can easily see Rusko making more than 10K per show. He played at the Fox here in Boulder last year, people were willing to pay $100 on craigslist, people were outside the venue with cash held high trying to buy tickets. If he played there again, he could easily charge $50 a show - it holds 750 people or so, that's $37,500. I could see the one man band getting at least $10K of that. Of course, people like Mimosa can sell out the Boulder Theater here, for $30 a ticket and capacity is 1500 or so. That's $45K at the door, and I bet Rusko could definitely sell that place out now for at least that ticket price. It really depends on the market though - Mimosa charges $30 a ticket in CO, but only $15 other places in the country. I think Pretty Lights gets about $30K per show these days all over the country.

If it helps at all, one of the frats here booked a "Young Joc" for $10,000. It only played for like an hour before it left.

If you dont know what that thing is or what kind of noise it makes, dont worry about it.

I think there has been some confusion at various points in this thread where some people are talking about $ and others about £.

exactly this thread is hilarious, most ive gotten was $30 and I was blown away.

Considering I regularly do 3 hour DJ sets for free just for the fun of it, if I was being payed 10k+ I would be drinking red bulls and blowing ritalin pills or something to be able to do a 48 hour DJ set. If I got 10k for only an hours work that I consider to be fun anyway how could I sleep that night

this type of money doesnt come by playing in ur room and becoming good.. and then asking for a booking at a club on behalf of urself... i mean.. rarely.. it takes dedication on many levels (or good timing / momentum, or both).

u have to make a whole set of moves... and have people around u helping u promote ur shit... u also have to put some money in transportation, and hotel rooms for u and ur crew.. which is expensive

in the end, its not ridiculous, u generate a money, and u become a promotional tool... and you will have to invest a lot of money to keep the wheel revolving.... people will try to rip u off if u dont do ur job the way u should...

on higher levels, like serious 5 figure bookings, u often endup having a whole bunch of employees behind u and have to be legally geared to survive the many hassles thatll come ur way...

its a whole other game once u get the big checks...

altho i aint been there yet :P

Bugger haha. I only started making dubstep because my psytrance live sets weren't paying as much as I wanted (i.e enough to live off).

I thought it must be a bit more lucrative as there are so many more people who like it, far more commercial, more events etc.

There must be a fair few producers who are able to live comfortably off the spoils of playing live though?

Reid speed and Excision + Downlink played at a venue here in Blacksburg, VA (pretty small college town) that i have played several times.

doing the math - reid speed show seemed to take in at least $15,000 in ticket sales. excision and downlink somewhere around $20,000. rough estimate, but i made it a bit lower to be safe.

could probably get excision and downlink together for $15,000.

on that note, made $150 from doing a 1 hour set there. it was fucking awesome.

LOL@That site "Bob Marley 10K - 15K Generally Available"

On a side note, if you're producing for the sole reason of trying to make money, your energy is better spent elsewhere.
