now is the time to buy one because they are now quad core. i need a new macbook pro because it cant handle my mix downs. also depends on how much processing you do. i mix down large bands so i need a quad but it all depends

The new mbp's are very nice. The new sandy bridge stuff is great as well, significantly faster than the old core 2 stuff.
The ivy bridge is due out next year so we are roughly halfway through the product cycle. Thats when I plan to upgrade my system.
I think 17" will be overkill size wise, you can get 1080p monitors for fuck all these days.
Also fuck the haters!

thanks bro. and yeah maybe ill wait until the ivy bridges come out. ill get a 15" inch since like you said its a bit overkill. not only would it limit the portability, but i will most likely buy a 24" monitor anyway.

i have a 13" pro and run it through my 24" monitor when i need to. 17's are absolutely huge plus heavy
