why would anyone listen to dubstep for the songwriting, its dance music
I got into it from my bedroom, not a club. It's one of the most emotional electronic genres, which is why I like it. That's why I write it too, and I'm sure there are others out there who feel the same way.
Don't tell people how to listen to music

Yeah I listen to it at home too- its just growing up with dance music im far more used to the repetetive strains of intro-drop-breakdown-drop-end (or in the case of house music just drop )
Actually hearing verse-chorus based music for the first time, with james blake, seriously sounded really weird to me- couldnt get into the song structure- but now i see the endless variety you can do with other structures and i appreciate them. That said though, you have to admitmost of dubstep is orieted around dance structure, and the point i was making was that if you were looking for quality song writing youd be best off looking at other genres- sorry to put it so brusquely (turns out i misrewad the op anyway )

yeah singlehandedly got me into guitar music really- the guys got a real gift for catchy melodies- and does some good experimental stuff too

It's true, there isn't much great songwriting in dubstep, but guys like The Widdler and Mount Kimbie are pushing the boundaries a little. I just don't really listen to the stuff that doesn't have decent songwriting. Once again, that's why I make dubstep, maybe I can help change/create something
And fucking Wavves are amazing...
