its not that im against all his ideas (as i stated). But I'm against how he thinks he can accomplish them.

If you want to bake a cake, we can all agree cake is good. But if you want to bake a cake with cabbage and sour cream, the end result will not be the same cake we all agreed was good.

I'm a realist. Last election I did not vote on anything regarding afghanistan as I know the ability to withdraw troops does not fully rest in the hands of the power of the presidency. Just like the power to legalize drugs, dissolve the federal reserve, amongst many other issues Ron Paul speaks of are not within his power to change. So all this shit he's talking is about what he would SUPPORT as president. Dumb americans take this as "what the president will do". The president cannot dissolve the federal reserve.... so why the fuck is Ron Paul talking about it? The president cannot change our monetary standard.... so why the fuck is he bothering with it? He would need to be able to guarantee support from congress on both sides which he cannot and is one reason why he is not to be taken seriously.

I'm more inclined to listen to the issues he actually has control over and the issues he has control over he is either very week or very poorly conceived and thus I do not support Ron Paul.

Different president, same shit. Doesn't matter.

Spit or no spit, you are still getting fuuuuuucked.

This little left right game that they've been playing is getting out of hand. These wild oscillations will destabilize this country. Fact of the matter there are millions of Americans sleeping with AK's under their beds at this very minute, and it is likely they will start waking up with the notion that this political system is a farce and does not represent their interests. What's their recourse? Organization, protest, local elections, armed insurrection? Who knows, but this system is becoming unstable.

Hardly left/right oscillations. I don't think either one of us were around in the 1970s but then it was far truer then to say a thing like that. The fact of the matter is that political battles are fought and won in 'the centre'. It's the centre that doesn't bloody represent anyone!

Two federal elections within two years of each other, both landsides, and both with diametrically opposed outcomes is instability. The populace is wildly fluctuating looking for representation, and they're not finding it in either party. Whether Obama and the Dems actually are left, yeah, arguable at the very best, but they play as the left in this pantomime.

And don't be so sure about the 70's :a:

There is literally no quarterly convincing argument that the democratic party is leftist by any substantial means.

the acid never lies wrote:Sorry, here in he UK it is rather late so maybe I'm not putting myself across as best as I should, I didn't mean to say that you're full of hot air. There is still no denying that the Republicans are more into union busting than are the Democrats who are slightly more into corporatism. Their interests are not fully aligned, that doesn't mean that they ARE aligned with that of the people, but then you have to think under what conditions people politics, rank and file movements, militancy etc. is likely to flourish. The funny thing is, history shows that as people's living conditions improve, they are more likely to grow confident and want to defend those gains. I assure you they are divided because not all capitalists have the same interests, although of course there is plenty of overlap. It certainly isn't the case that all the decisions are made in some dimly lit boardroom.
i think you have the republicans and democrats mixed up mate
