Besides the more garagey beats still were from before the half time thing. It's got nothing to do with people hearing burial and wanting to be like him. You clearly have no fucking clue what you're on about. Seiously just give up on"future garage" or dubstep now. You seem to have the idea that dubstep is just skrillex now or something when it really isn't. You're coming across as just some image concious poser otherwise why would you care if people thought what you played was dubstep or not. Dubstep came from fucking garage why if it sounds garagey now do people think it's somehow gone past what dubstep is when it is it's fucking roots?

ive also been into its for a long time, at the end of the day i was here on this forum in 2007 and spoke to people in here and in the scene, i never said dubstep is just skrillex?? i have in the region of 600+ dubstep songs ranging from the old horsepower stuff up to new stuff, i clearly know its a mixture of different sounds...macabre unit doesnt sound like skrillex does it

but future garage and dubstep have involved into something different...i have around 500 future garage tunes...
and ur calling me clueless about music, i have music going back from acid house to future garage and grime....i know music well enough...

I'm sorry but if you have such a variation of music you own then why do seem to have this idea that dubstep somehow can't have the future garage stuff in it or why some of the future garage stuff can't simply be refered to as garage? It makes no sense. Have you just started ignoring dubstep or something. There's still loads of it out there that sounds identical to future garage or whatever. Also is garage supposed to just not exist now? Why can't any new tunes be called garage?

some can and some cant,like Jup1ter Alienward head for example or something by janner, some stuff just goes into both mind sets,
its sad to split things up,but people still wanted to make niche and bassline type sounds and ravey type tunes and it just fit in the audience of FG people...
if i mention dubstep to anybody they always mention the dirty stuff,same as if u mention hip-hop people will identify whats popular...

Its like saying why was crunk called crunk when it was hip-hop, u have been around since 2005,remember the many names for grime in 2003 = 8bar,sublow,eski sublow was the old dark garage sound and 8bar was kind of breakbeats and eski was a*cant describe that bass sound*sound with rave sounds etc...even how many name garage had before, like speed garage,UKG,2step,breakbeat garage..
even people called dubstep grime at first and forward everything just takes its own course...

commercial rap/hip hop might as well be club music 2.0 now

its like i dunno, like i do like some of the 'future garage' stuff but it seems more to me that its the kind of stuff with nice chord pads, and vocal chops and just has a really clean sound, and thats what i dont like about it. but stuff like martyn, trg and burial they have garagey beats in their music, earlier music more really, but like it wasnt clean, it had that dark dubstep sound, it is dubstep, it definately fits in a dubstep set. i kind of prefer it when it doesnt have that clean cut sound, its what makes dubstep good and separates it from alot of shit. 'future garage' is more like tech house with really clean cut sounds and just sounds generally shit. and i hate the name and most of the music haha. its like no disrespect to the guys or anything but like when i hear and think about future garage its guys like submerse and whistla and i dunno ive just never been able to get into their music, its just summat about it that i dont like and that goes for alot of FG stuff.

Yeah I can see what you're saying. Maybe I just find it annoying cause it seems unnecessary and the name itself is horrible. It does also tend to go along with the pretentious attitude some people take these days which is often reflected in the music. From what you're saying I can see your point a little but honestly I don't see why you're treating it like it couldn't fit in with dubstep when I just hear it as being the same thing really.

at the end of the day, people want to have things accessible to them at the easiest way possible. sometimes you're in the mood for something dark and hard, so u have ur dubstep, but let's just say ur making a playlist in your itunes, having some future garage labeled as dubstep would throw off the whole mood. i know it would for me.

when im in the mood for something i want that thing only, then i switch, have a taste of all the musical flavors, thats why there are so many different strains of music. people want different flavors. i understand that dubstep can play around in mood, speeds and instrumentation (that's why i love Von D's or Authors tracks since they are so light and full of melodies, even vocals) it's when the differences are so great that a new genre name must be created to differentiate.

Can you imagine calling The Artful Dodger dubstep?
