To stay on topic: When you have to explain who Mala is...
Here's a little conversation I had with someone at work recently who noticed me checking this forum:
"Oh! Do you also listen to Dubstep bro?"
"... Uhh.. Yeah.. But not the mainstream Dubstep that you probably listen to."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, Skrillex and all that."
"Skrillex is sick man! Do you know Sinister Souls or Going Quantum? They're fucking huge bro. "
"No, I don't actually."
"Well what kind of Dubstep do you listen to then?"
"Mala for instance, but you probably have no idea who that is."
"...No. But there are lots of bands nowadays that are underground you know."
"..."
He literally used the word bands...
And then there are people talking about how we have to educate the new ones to the scene. Well believe me, I fucking tried, but it's just no use.
Most of the time they say such retarded things that I just give up. Fuck it.
So, guy comes up to you to have a conversation and you're that rude to him?

Nah it was a guy from work that I have to work with regularly. He's actually a really sound bloke but always when he comes in at work he's playing Sweet Shop or whatever on his phone. So no, I didn't really wanted to have a conversation with him about Dubstep.
And yes, I played him some Mala and Kryptic Minds in my car the day after that but he thought Mala was "fucking boring" and when I played some Kryptic Minds he said "Oh yes, this is chilled Dubstep. Don't like that man."

nah tbh that happens all the time. i was talking to this guy at work who's a good mate of mine (who listens to jump up dnb and the lot) and i was like yeah i dont think you'll like what i listen to, he said that he liked some dubstep but not 'nero and gay shit like that'. i was thinking ooh we might be ok here and then he said 'yeah people like gemini and downlink are pretty good', so i suggested that we just no longer talk about music, he chuckled and agreed, no rudeness but clearly we wont have a lot to talk about on the subject

When the first dubstep cd you had was Back to the Underground.
When you would be talking with someone at an event without realising they're a producer you're into.
When you used to be able to chill with producers at events without having people queuing up tell them they're their biggest fan.
When producers even went to events they weren't dj'ing at.
When you knew at least half the people attending an event.
When you have memories of 3rd bass..
