Best chicken place in my city, its been around and locally owned since the 40's or 50's. Get yourself a 3 piece meal with fries and corn fritters...

red beans and rice, actually. shit is amazing.
and what i do with the jalapeno, is bite the tips off and squeeze the juice onto the chicken.
if any of you brits are ever in houston, you have to go to Frenchy's. ask people who have played gritsy, they're always taken there.

rice and peas over here doesn't mean the rice has peas in it, its usually Kidney Beans or 'red' beans
in fact i dont think i've ever had rice and peas from a takeaway/stall where i've been given any real 'peas' in it... maybe once or twice when jamaican friends have passed on rice etc.
edit: unless you meant its called rice and peas over there and its the same shit as we get here?
