he did such a good job of finding all those new rockstars he found, probably for the best that he makes this reality tv show rather than actually doing something positive and beneficial for the music scene, instead of just consistently raping itsouthstar wrote:Simon Cowell wrote:"DJs are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show,"
I don't get the point of this?wub wrote:ketamine wrote:This is going to boil down to a DMC competition...TV show nothing to do with selection or blending talent...

The sort of kids who apply for this (sweeping generalisation here, so bear with me) won't be whacking out some awesome triple flipping 12" tricks. They'll just be doing fancy shit with traktor.
its a shame, would love to see someone do a 4 deck vinyl mix, carl cox styles

Kentaro's probably more skilled than whoever came 1st in the DSF awards! That guy got lethal fingersidontreallygiveashit wrote:What the hell will this even be? Phenomenal rise of the DJ? All popular DJs just use Ableton dont they?
So will this be like listening to people mix (which is boring to watch 90% of the time) or some DMC turntablist shit?
And yes, im one of the few people who believes that DJing (as in, like a club DJ) isn't the godly art some people make it out to be. The truth is, someone like Kentaro is more skillful than, i dont know, whoever came fourth in this year's DSF awards.
edit : I think they are just looking for an electronic act. Probably.
edit2: Just read an article on the Telegraph about it. I reckon he is just looking for a producer. But still, how will this happen? They only have like 90 seconds on these audition shows. Confused as fuck, just have to see.
