^^Think i'll just buy it. Saw it for cheap recently.
That thing also happens to me - a film will pop into my head for no reason then it'll be on within three days. -q-

just not sure that most people are into the film noir thing. also the sequel is shit, should have been amazing but polanksi went and fucked it up for everyone else!
chinatown usually ranks pretty well on 'great movie lists' and the like, never knew there was a sequel :?

Shaolin Vs Wu Tang - everything is on point, story, fighting and the dialogue, even the english dubbing is well done. Definitely enjoyed it more than The Prodigal Son.

Enter The Void - you Ninja's are the only people to recommend it to me, so not sure how 'big' it is but it was amazing. the opening sequence, the visuals, the use of Point of View filming, the segues across Tokyo.

Gummo - once again, recommended by Ninja's - think it is relatively unknown, quite different from anything I've seen. Some of the characters don't even have names but you can still get a really good idea of the type of people they are.

plenty more but those are the first three that come to mind. lastly, Jackie Brown is awesome! Watched it the first time on VHS, had to get the DVD for the collection :D

Yeah because they aren't really characters haha, Korine treads the line between documentary and fiction. The main older kid Tummler was cast from a talk show about kids who huff paint. There's a clip floating around of the show but it's rare. Maury Povich or something. His names Nick sutton, he used to post on the Harmony forum sometimes, he said he was on LSD during filming haha.

a lot of people think Lynch is shit though (like in this thread for example) so how can be overrated.. think you either love it or you don't...
for me, Blue Velvet, Mullholland, Lost Highway and Eraserhead are stone cold classics. I have less time for it nowdays though, definitely films you need to put a lot into

Absolutely wicked film! "A game of chess is like a sword-fight - you must think first before you move"
(Prefer The Prodigal Son though)

I would also like to get in on this 12 Monkeys appreciation. Brad Pitt is a joker in it.

Its one of those films where the events will keep on reccuring over and over again forever, if that makes sense.

Unless you believe in the multiverse (?)..... Whatever, that film stretched my young mind back when I was 15.

i reckon it would have had the same effect on me when i was 15 too!

as it is i kinda knew where it was going from the beginning, but that didn't make it less enjoyable at all which is a major plus for the film, Pitt was brilliant, easy to see why he was cast as Tyler Durden after that display

the ending kind of closes the door on non-mutually exclusive universes/dimensions, basically like saying if you ever time travel you can only time travel along your own timeline, seems to suggest also that time as a 'line' doesn't make any sense and that all past/present/future are contained singly in every moment

i thought the examination of psychology and personality disorders was good too, like the way he actually was insane, whilst also telling the truth about what happened to him, and how it switches back and forth between past/present/future and being thought of as insane/being insane/being sane etc.

cool film

To anyone who enjoyed 12 Monkeys I'd recommend checking out the short La Jetée which 12 Monkeys was based on. I personally love them both and La Jetée is probably my favourite short ever :4:
