totally agreed.

http://electro-music.com/forum/
^that site has about 30 sub forums, and sections. its like counting rice. if anything our pattern over the years is to remove subforums, rather than build new ones. people don't want to talk about minutiae any longer, and those that would start blogs usually.

i don't think people would read a sub forum about "presets", for example.

weird the other threads die while people still take the time to bump this http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=235725

(devil's advocate)

That basically equates to talking to yourself.
agreed.
What do you think BlueKira does in his trance thread :6:

Also am I the only person who uses 'view your posts'? If you've posted in a topic it doesn't even matter if it gets moved.

It would be shit if there was one other music thread that had everything merged together. if the threads stayed seperate but were in the SNH that would be ok. It's not that bad as it is really.

the votes speak for themselves but that doesn't mean people voted right...from where I'm sitting, laziness just prevailed again. But that's democracy for ya :)

Let's see how many threads survive or stay manageable/convenient in SNH.

Well I think it's a pretty good cross-section, and this way it's more likely that people who are active in the community are voting and not people who may stop in for a day and never come back.

I just don't see the point in putting it in the snh, it's only one extra click away as it is.
Putting it in general is more likely to attract more people to those threads and so keep them active. Plus people who have come from other musical backgrounds and are new to Dubstep/DSF are more likely to see them there and contribute, and by doing so, may get feedback on ds artists they may like.

my tuppence

i think it's worth trying out having rolling threads in the SNH for the "larger" subjects as it were (genre threads and the like), and leaving the other music forum as is... for the time being at least

once we merge other music into SNH it's going to be incredibly hard/impossible to reverse it if we decide it's a bad idea, so it's worth trying intermediary measures first

Cool, hadn't looked at it like that.
I'll vote for that then.

Edit - lol that one vote made a ton of difference!

Jungle, Hiphop, D&b, techno all have a big multiple page threads. At the moment, it's pretty easy to keep up with them since activity isn't that high (because the threads are in other music?), but the quality of contribution is high. My fear is this might change when they're back in SNH.

If the quantity of posts increases, we must pray the quality doesn't recede (which is often the case with less targeted and more general exposure and the SNH is pretty loose as it is (generally a good thing but how will it work in specific music threads)). Will it still be easy to keep up with these threads? And what about other threads. I agree with Badger that a planned incorporation would work better, but then again, with all of the "popular" threads in Other music gone, how many people will still visit it for the smaller threads?

I think I'm exaggerating, I think implementation into SNH should work, but I see no problems with the way it is now other than that activity might be a bit on the low side. One extra click and a little more exposure could have helped the other music forum a long way. A missed opportunity for me, who likes to discuss other music seriously.

I assume the whole point of the integration would be to eventually phase out Other Music.

no idea why the hiphop sub forum has gone, a few of us were using it quite regularly recently, and I have picked up some amazing stuff from there. Never mind

Exactly!!
