House started to get really popular amongst producers like a year or two ago, and people have been experimenting more and more with techno lately.
I don't think the typical cold and rigid Berghain sound will be very widespread, but I can really see this dark, off-kilter, swung, semi-industrial techno getting bigger in the UK the coming year or so. Blawan's already fully in it, and Objekt just stated he has some industrial inspired bits.

Of course, there's always been a UK techno scene, but that's not what I'm talking about. The same people that do house now are mostly post-dubsteppers and I think the same people will head towards techno soon.

It's a refreshing direction, imo, and will be interesting to see it's progress.

^Hopefully. The whole "future" bass music happening now/the last year never appealed to me, when I'm a big fan of dark/raw techno.

on another note i heard getting me down in topshop today whilst out shopping with a ladyfriend. whats the world coming to lol. i suppose it was funny hearing it played inbetween all the indie bullshit they usually play. prob would have been an illegal rip too as i don't think it got a digital release

seems like i'm having a controversial day today lol. i'd still consider blawan part of the 'bass music' spectrum (as much as i hate that term) including this mix, i don't think it's not quite pure sandwell/ruskin/dettmann/klock/whatever techno, still some broken beat stuff in there for instance. granted he's obviously gravitated A LOT more towards techno than a lot of others who used to make dubstep. as well as that i think a lot of his fanbase comes from the bass music side of things rather than techno...just my opinion i dunno...

Haha, yeah I dunno, I think of Blawan as more just Techno these days, his sonic router mix came on earlier, and its weird how his sound has changed so much in terms of sets. In that he was playing a who's who of Bass Music, but now he doesnt play any of that.

yeah i know he's changed a lot...to a certain extent i think the techno stuff suits him more. then again i loved the percussion on his hessle and first R&S release so much it was mental. it's a shame he doesn't do that sort of stuff as much anymore.
