do you always talk to your loved ones like that?
anyhoo I've had a few hours shut-eye
and I'm on the road again
although my slippers are getting a bit ragged
yesterday was fun
I passed Pat Farmer, Tom Hanks & The Running Man
and lots of drivers threw food & drink at me
which was just as well because I forgot to bring my wallet
luckily, in my pyjamas pocket, I found the $50 Caltex fuel card my brother gave me last xmas
saying, me being wheelchair-bound & all,
that, instead, it was redeemable it for a hand job at any Caltex servo
well, the attendant at Marulan took a bit of convincing
but once I put the bag on my head, she gave me my money's worth.
don't know when I'll next be in Wi-Fi range
so I'll just take this opportunity to say thanks again reperv.

no, it is a metaphor
& a reality-check for those who self-constrain themselves

I'm going to stick to writing about medieval history
from the peasants' points of view
which is kinda what we're doing on here for modern times
I pity the historian who, in the future, tries to wade thru today's mass of posts/tweets
to get a coherent picture of our times.
I guess it will be seen as a time of democratization of voice,
confusion of the facts
and self-indulgence (to which I confess)
historically,
we'll probably be seen as the time of transition from tribalism & nationalism
to the planetary hegemony of technocrats
I hope that our disinterested experts,
whilst saving the world from grubby peasants like me
can come up with some inspirational distractions.
the problem future historians are going to face is that there is now so much data that any theory or ideology that a historian wants to be proved correct will be able to find 'supporting' data, valid or not
