You just have you train yourself to delegate your creativity. You don't want to waste your daily dose of creative energy on doing the dishes, make sure everything else in your life is as un-creative as possible (doesn't mean it doesn't have to be fun).
Thats how I do it anyways.

So we only have a certain amount of creativity to spend per day? that's actually really true, at least for me

Well, there has been studies that we are only truly creative on average of 20-30 minutes in a day.
Doesn't mean we can't get things done but when it comes to making music; it'll just be because we've got enough knowledge to get things done without being creative.

I have a feeling that study wasn't done on committed music producers. Creativity doesn't hold much value for normal people with regular jobs and all that stuff.

hm maybe you find some little creativity helpers like nova 32 (not a drug) its a midi note creator which can give an impulse into a direction you can even start building a tune around it and then drop the original created midi
or search through a large sample database and pick a sample pack or an variable number of random samples and build your tune around them forcing yourself to use all of them

thats what I mean, as producers we have to learn how to harness creativity, expand our creative energy and know when to use it.

I wonder if there are mental exercises to expand creativity? Kinda depressing to think that I only really have creativity for 20 minutes a day

Take as many mind altering drugs as you can, keep a notebook/tape recorder handy.

What works for me is if i finish a track, save it and start all over with the same synths, beat and stuff and make something new, adjust synths, beats and repeat. This was one of the things I had to do in art class, just paint over your new painting to create something new (but in paintings you don't have a save function )

I did weed twice earlier this summer, tbh it wasn't anything special, the second time (when i got really high) it was actually pretty shitty. I don't see myself doing it or any other drugs in the near future

I dont really like anything apart from weed (and a beer)
But thats not the point. I find that forcing creativity upon yourself can sometimes be a bd thing. Sometimes im just sitting there and I get a small snippet of on idea in my head (usuaally like an 8 bar loop I have made up and been jamming too in my head). Then i just try to write it in my daw. It always comes out wrong and that how i make tunes. I find that i am more "creative" at night or really early morning for some odd reason. maybe tiredness comes into it.

No matter how cheesy this sounds, stop looking at your computer screen, and start looking at what you see when you close your eyes and let the music take you on a journey.
Make your DAW transparent and don't let it effect your music, this means knowing how to do everything you plan on using in your music.
Listen to jazz. Dig deep into it. Discover why it's art and your perspective will change.
Music = Feeling
