I wouldn't right off this genre so quickly! Plenty of good music is still coming out and there are loads of fresh new producers coming just finding form.

I understand where you're coming from but I think some of the early dungeon especially had some gems and there's still some standout tunes now. Must admit the ratio gets worse all the time though and you know it's getting bad when you're confusing tunes for one another. More on a Oneman/Swamp/Hyperdub ting these days though.

Hyperdub not releasing dubstep anymore. gotta respect their point of view but the amount of innovative and essential tunes kode 9 released back in the day is ridiculous
People in a crowd getting agressive towards me when I played them quest - hard food. They demanded 'real' dubstep...
obviously i told them to fuck off but for me, dubstep died a little that day.

Yeah, Hyperdub have gone from being a label where I considered buying or bought pretty much every release they put out to one that I basically never check. However, gotta pay respect to Kode 9 for not caving to pressure and still running a label that puts out what he WANTS to. Just a shame I'm not feeling most of them.

There are still a few good bits now and again, i quite like some of it, just not my kinda music.

Yes early dungeon was more inventive and fresh: Kryptic Minds - One Of Us LP, early SP:MC Tempa tunes, early Osiris plates.
I thought it was going strong up until the '2nd wave' so to speak of, around the end of 2011 when Killawatt, Thelem, Sleeper/District and such got in the rotation. Not to take away from or blame these producers, they're still technically amazing, but since then the scene has become bogged down in extremely similar sounding music.
In the same way that early 'bro' was arguably more exciting. Then the 2nd wave was inevitably worse after the intial explosion of Datsik and co's careers.

its all pretty similar though, all colourfull plasticy synths n 8 bit sounds all a tad detuned.
(probs a generlisation i dont follow hyperdub at all anymore)
n i disagree with the guy who said about skull disco stopping releasing. 10 plates was just right for that label, n it will always be the most special to me cos they didn't over do it. was just perfect

Hyperdub has always been different, even its 'dubstep' output sounded different to the output of say DMZ, Tempa etc at the time. I can honestly see Hyperdub going the same way as say Warp or Ninja Tune in the sense that they will be one of the biggest underground UK record labels. I mean, just look at what is out/scheduled to be out this year alone!
Saddest moments for me.
The scrapped Darkstar material that someone has already mentioned. I love North but an album in the same vein as Aidy's would have been huge!
The departure of Skream as a regular on Rinse. Stella Sessions were great fun on a Wednesday night.

Scratcha's album on HDB this year was really interesting. The King Britt release was sick too. I really like pretty much the entire HDB catalog, my favorite label of all time.

that walton ep from a few weeks ago i thought was really good but yeah on the whole im a bit confused by some of their output. just dont really get it... maybe im just a bit simple or something
