i don't bother approaching people. why get rejected upfront and definitively when you can text them and get a noncommital, intelligence-insulting reply a week later and assume rejection, thus cleverly avoiding problematic things like "straightforwardness" and waste quite a bit of your time mired in needless uncertainty.'

mmm-I'm not sure about this...

I guess it depends on how a person views the internet...

If a person is paranoid and believes the internet a vulnerable access point and source of endless trolling
- than yes - an internet response could be one of great misunderstanding...

But if a person thinks of the internet as a polite convienient social profilactic
...the public Victorian Tea House per say - than no one can be accused of being too forward in the exchange

because they respect the letters and the distance provided.

I liked it when you could just talk to anyone in the club because you were all there to do exactly that.
