When I was a student and spent all my money on records, by the end of the month I would just buy single things with literally pennies. My shopping would consist of 1 potato, 1 apple, 1 onion, 1 can of beans... etc - enough to make some student food of. After pennies were spent - freegan all the way. Had my places for bread, veg, fruit and even fresh doughnuts!
