Wiggle Baron reminds me - since I got my new mixer...

when mixing - you're "supposed" to drop the bass drum all the way out for a few measures - and then drop the new bass drum in...
It always feels way too obvious - as if I'm fading to the background everytime...choppy and minimal

It does sound cleaner - but like every mix is retreating...and then making a clean pass off on the baton and then stepping forward again


Anyone - How do you guys do it?



Should I just forget that and go for bass kicks that aren't clipping or what....

Just play everything on 11 and nothing will sound retreating...

You're making this sound like an excercise in anal retention...


You know how you can drop the lows out of a tune...
When you do this it sounds like the song has lost a signifigant - powerful part of the music as a whole...

Well - I was told that before you start your mix - you drop the lows out
- then bring in your next tune with it's lows off
- and then drop the bass to the second tune in - at the next most appropriate time

But in that transition where the bassi are off...sounds minimal or like the sounds have retreated...


It sounds fine - it works - but I don't like to have the songs go far away before they come back in - on every mix

I mean - that's fine for a quiet, meditative point in a set - but it never sounds strong, or like it's mixing forward...
