you don't wanna give warning shots inside your own house. Swear bulluts make bigger holes than the bullet itself, you'd ruin the deco

by "people" i assume you mean "people who end up owning a gun", right? or do you mean "people who end up firing a gun that they may or may not own"?
what's your source on this? my personal anecdotal experience runs in complete contrast to that statement, so i'm curious.

I would never buy a gun, but if I did, the first shot would be a red paintball. Would make em think they got shot without really actually harming them.

for me it's simple. if i woke up in middle of the night due to a noise disturbance and found some1 stealing shit then i'd use gun to scare them off. if they tried to attack me or my family with any kind of weapon or any force then i would shoot him but not to kill. well thats the plan, but if he had a knife or something and was coming at me then i'd shoot to kill.
to be honest tho i think i would deff want him to wait around for police to arrest him, n if he tried to leave i'd shoot in arm or leg.
i would only do so if i had a gun licence and i was ok to use in self defence. if not i would grab a knife n if i had to use it i would.
i fucking love my family and if any skum bag wants to try his luck then please feel free.

Self-defense. Wouldn't think twice tbh. Though I'd probably just shoot in the knee or something.
Planning on getting a license to carry next year or so. But I wouldn't shy away from using a gun if I had one even without a license.

problem with everyone having guns in their house is that people who want to burgle you will also take a gun as standard. i'm not aware of most burglars in the UK having guns so i'd rather not bother really...
and having guns in the house significantly increases your chances, in general, of getting injured by a gun, whether accidentally or on purpose.
they make it far too easy for things to end way more badly than they otherwise would have done. take a domestic argument. a husband is angry and drunk. no gun in the house: this doesn't end brilliantly, there are injuries and it's horrible. but no one dies. gun in the house: a dead body in no more than 30 seconds. this pretty much confirms most of my suspicions

you can always think up an elaborate story whereby if some extra person had owned a gun it could all have been stopped but these are vastly outstripped by the cases where the presence of a gun or guns made things several times worse imo. basing policy on the case where someone breaks and enters and you don't have a gun and they end up taking you all hostage and subjecting you to hours of torture or whatever is silly

if someone invaded/broke into my home I'd shoot them no hesitation. i'm from a part of the u.s. where i wouldn't need a license to own a rifle, shotgun.

life or death maybe, it's a toss up though.
one could assume harm w/out absolute death.
I'd suffer before taking a life, but if I thought I was gonna die, maybe the fear would take over.

Yeah I think almost anyone would see red if their house was broken into, especially if they have children.
I don't think anyone other than the police should have guns, and not all police.
Maybe some private security aswell.
