i have been trying to do this on and off for years and i cant seem to go all the way although i think i have gotten pretty close. Theres a point where everything starts to vibrate and you get a weird kind of head rush, it's such a bizarre sensation that it sort of take me out of the moment and it stops..
So I had a proper go at this last night and this seemed to mainly be the result, but I did get to sleep and I don't remember giving up doing it, so I guess it worked.
Once you start falling into the images things start feeling pretty freaky... I was seeing such cool imagery that it was difficult to concentrate on the blackness at first... I seemed to be toying with a helicopter for ages until everything set on fire and I guess I had some kind of choice to stick with it or wake up; the shock of the sensation kind of picked wake up by default.

Magma -
Best option is to focus on the black.
When the images disappear and the black dominates, create a cube in your head with the number 1 inside.
Begin rotating the cube and changing the number very slowly from 1 to 10.
By the time you reach 10 and vibrations are going, you should be able to lean out of your body whilst maintaining the image of the cube with the number.
From there it get's difficult

I've been able to get above my bed before and was able to look at myself sleeping.
Beyond that it became a dream.
I never could control the actual projection to the point that I could travel.
I would just wake up in the morning not having realized.
That's pretty cool.. I've read quite a few guide on doing this and a lot of them say to keep it really short the first few times you do it otherwise you will just have no recollection of actually doing it but i don't know how accurate that is.
I wonder if i have done it before but just can't remember.
Another technique i have been toying with lately that seems effective is to visualise your 'astral body' as being superimposed onto your physical body, and then visualizing your 'astral' arm reaching up to grab a rope and then you visualise pulling your astral body up out of your real body with the rope.
I have also tried using isochronic tones and they are surprisingly effective at getting you to the 'vibration' stage.

The rope trick is the same as leaning out of your body.
You're consciously making an effort to separate.

yeah
hey nevalo next time you are trying to sleep maybe try listening to one of these iso-chronic tones like

You probably think it's dumb but worth a try.. i have found them to be quite effective
