i think at a point there are plenty of tracks that a casual listener wouldn't be able to just identify as one or the other
But, as far as history, geography, and technology go, there are distinct differences... like i think house grew out of spinning disco and sampling while techno came from raw drum machine beats -- hence the name and techy-ness


of course theres tons of crossover music and osmosis and now it comes down to the vibe, sound, labels, crowds, clubs, places, etc. but if i'm dead honest i can't tell the difference either.

well i can usually tell u whether or not i'm hearing house music, but after that anything synthy, cold, or drum machine-based i call "techno"

I don't know how much reading you've done, but the odds are your tune is just one of the many types of house/techno that have been acknowledged in the thread. Try harder next time you self promo.

What about all this donk-like house music that's being called "UK bass".

Maybe I don't get what people mean by techy.

It's like, how is techstep different to Neuro Funk. And then people say stuff like techy :S
