I hate the term EDM, sounds like some lame corporate name tag from some people that have just discovered this 'new sound'. Its like some big promoters/labels just realising it's popular and re-branding it.

It was already all just bunched together as dance music for more than 20 years, or the non-dancefloor stuff as electronic music and then the dozens of sub-genres for people that are more into it. What happens when bands play live drum n bass? is that DM?

i have no doubt that some shitty marketing team came up with the 'EDM' label

Pretty sure that EDM originated on teh interwebz as a consensus contraction on some board or other in the 90's or so... and was only intended to be referential in the context of a discussion, NOT an attempt to brand something. Wikipedia sources it around 1995.

But anyway..

Let's just invent a new beardstroke-worthy umbrella term since we all hate "EDM" so much...

I propose...
