A musician is someone that has a honed craft that counts towards the creation of music, his craft is a samplist as he doesn't play an instrument and I guess on some level a 'composer' but he is terrible at that as he didn't have the basic understanding of engineering that them things require. I'll see if I can find the video.

I like parts of the album but this whole idea that he is some musical prophet of our times is just super wack

respect to him for pushing something so weird in the mainstream though... and Bound 2, I'm in it, New Slaves and Blood on the Leaves are all tunes

they're just that, hype tracks, not much substance imo (with the exception of New Slaves possibly, but the idea is still very shallow and obvious if anything)

reviewers need to stop fabricating that substance just because it's Kanye

I wouldn't say he's bringing this concept into the mainstream by himself or that he's taking any chances at all .
He has had a lot of meticulously constructed press releases with credible people like Rick Rubin and that Bon Iver guy, talking about how kanye is absolutely right in everything he's taking credit for and so on. Like he was Quincy jones writing a bible. Its a combination of people that the press might froth over.
