My mate Darkman. Some of the shit I've heard from him is light years ahead of what some people are putting out.
Mr. Finn too.

we're just lucky the fabios in dubstep are not ridiculous at all, actually really cool, but they're just a handfull of top blokes
well, without a lot of the UK guys, dubstep wouldnt exist, so i wouldnt begrudge them too much.
Those guys got where they were today did so by not accepting the status quo and building their own sound, clubs, labels, fanbases etc.
If there's one lesson from Fabio or any of the dubstep music pioneers is that if you dont like the status quo, work towards changing it - and it's easier than ever with the internet.
Find likeminded people, start a night, build your own beats, find new beatmakers, play them both, promote your own night... and so the cycle goes on.

no begrudge, respect to the pioneers, they won what they have!
that's not the point...
it's about too many people following these guys more than their own soul
i mean, when you get home and have about a month of demos and promos, for sure you get to miss something that might be just as valuable as you already play... hence this topic and the perception that you are underrated because you get played just by smaller names and radios, when actually many smaller pies can feed you better than one big pie...
but in the very near future the small local scenes developing everywhere will have a bigger role than expected i think

thats exactly what i reckon man. dubstep is getting to a point where i couldnt give a shit about the new wave of producers. from this point on its all about trying to formulate a completely new sound... cos i personally, dont want to contribute to the downfall of a genre which i hold in such high esteem...
edit: although of course there are still new wave mans doing incredible shit, itll lead into stagnation at some point...

work and evolution are the key words indeed, and they come hand in hand with "wide horisons", and for sure with not complaining about acceptance in the establishment, more like with shaking grounds and staying true to own beliefs
so actually i'm sure some of the so called "underrated" are doing well, even have decent sales and shit, but they've just missed enough props from the icons. so what? that will eventually come, just stay true to the music!
many names mentioned here are big and respected and they should feel proud of themselves whatsoever, starting with emalkay and ending with whoever...
as it's been said: the icons were underrated too, they built it from themselves despite the system, they built their own system and so on...
so my bottom lines would be:
1. if you are a producer and have frustrations about being underrated, you're on a wrong path and frustration consumes your energy
2. if you're a fan, do your job and put your cash where your heart is, not where others say you should

3. this topic would look better if titled: who do you think has potential to be the next icon?
my bets are placed and i'm trustfull
so back to work, i did my share of forum action for today, more than this would mean i'm contradicting myself!

I knew I should have done my consultations before the switch. It's just a fucking name guys, jeez. Interesting how some of the folks not feeling it have names that are...well, a bit rubbish
(yeah Ruffage, you know who you are)
Should have gone for Shonx - ask Jubz in future, he knows his dubstep branding concepts
