alcohol is actually bad for your sleep, as much as it helps you drift off the sleep isn't as restful
Yeah I've heard that but what if you naturally have unrestful sleep? I regularly wake up numerous times throughout the night and always struggle to drift off.. maybe alcohol aided sleep isn't great quality sleep but it certainly feels better than my natural sleep lol.
nowaysj - that'd make sense, maybe I'm getting constantly stuck at the dream stage of sleep and waking up before getting to the deep stage.. hence the feeling shitty.
whatever makes you feel better man, if you can function better the next day after alcohol aided sleep then fair dos
but then again that involves drinking alcohol every night ahhaa not sure thats too good for you m9

i don't think i know many people that don't have at least a couple of pints or glasses of wine before they go to bed after work. both my parents go pub after work every day. all my work mates have a drink after everyday of work and all my student mates have a drink in the evening. the only people i really know who dont drink everyday are either heavy weed smokers or muslim.

Maybe you can try do get some lucid dreams? It's scientifically proven that it's beneficial to the sleep quality.

Yeah, you have to first prepare yourself for it.

I just had another bout of insomnia two nights ago. I could never get to the dream stage, or more importantly the stage after that which is deep sleep.
I was just existing in the border regions between dreaming and being awake, fully lucid the whole time.
If anything, it shows you how much junk you have in your head that needs to be trashed.
I would rather do this through meditation of some sort rather than agonizing nights of sleeplessness.

^meditation is also a good way to sleep better. I'm meditating once a week for my anxiety disorder and sometimes it even improves my sleep quality. But now, for some odd reason, i can't sleep normal.

does anyone here actually suffer from acute of chronic insomnia?

Honestly think I do. I don't have the agent 47 insomnia where you get up at 4 in the afternoon. I routinely walk around with 2 hours of sleep, or am awake for days on end. Like you don't know when to eat, because you've lost the rhythm of night and day.
But was not diagnosed. For that sleep study I did, actually did 2, they gave me a megadose of the magic butterfly, to look at what sleep would be like if I could get it. Oh, and yeah, they prescribed a device to open the airways, but the smell of polyvinyl chloride and other voc plasticizers was so strong it would make me dizzy after a couple of minutes. I ran the device for a week straight, in an attempt to allow the thing to off gas, nope still smelled like it did they day I got it. I returned it and was like you really want me to breath that for 8 hours a night, they were like yep, I was like you're trying to kill me, they were like, yep.

Yeah molz, as you've probably seen me say before, but it seems to have gotten significantly better recently. Why do you ask?

The only reason I ask is because I genuinely feel for those who do.
Reading through pages of people having trouble sleeping on the odd night almost seems like a bit of a kick in the guts to those who are living with a real problem. I've been there and it's a mental hell to get out

Man, I feel for those that have to deal with this on a nightly basis.
