The probe was such a horrible car, there was something quite similar but looked sick in real life, the 8 series I think? I've only seen one of them but it did actually look great.

The 8 series had those stupid pop up headlights, no thanks.

The Pug 406 coupe wasn't a bad example of those sort of things, the 3.0lt V6 was a beast considering Pugs weight fuck all...but they all got taken by salesman types, so it's hard to find one in decent condition with less than 200k on the clock.

The 206CC - once described by an old colleague as "a tampon on rollerskates".

There seems to be one of those acronyms for everyone, deserved or not (Ford, definitely not deserved since the old Dagenham Dustbin days)... my ex's Dad used to always refer to her Punto as "Fix It Again, Terry" which was a bit more apt.

Ford in the 90s were shite though, Fiat and Peugeot are still shit but at least they're cheaper to repair. Pugs in particular eat clutches on a regular basis.

Ford have been fine since whenever the Zetec engines launched... mid 90s? Basically the point when they abandoned the Escort for the Focus and the Granada for the Mondeo.
My Dad had Granadas and the odd Scorpio (

) through my whole childhood and none of them went wrong, I've owned a '91 Fiesta and a '00 Ka which were both surprisingly solid... in the 00s my Dad thought he'd mix it up a bit and got a Renault Laguna... I'm not kidding, that thing had to go back to the dealership about once every three months. One time the entire air-conditioning system conspired to try and kill us all (noxious smoke coming from all the vents) and one of the seat heaters burned a whole through the leather.
*All* French marques are shit.

Nissan Figaro's are class. Its the closest car you will ever get to feeling like James Bond whilst driving down the cliffs of Dover with a classy French bird short of having an Aston Martin etc
