Fedora please
It's more of a fedora notion to discount the times we're living in. Like imo Lil B is an actual deity, squarepusher is the alienjazz bass god and that's fine.
This reminds me. I was emailing back and forth with Remarc once, we were really close to booking him for the party we had Rotator play. We were gonna have budget issues so we had to drop him and found out too late that we.. didn't. Bummer.
Did you ask him about breakcore and what he thinks of it? He's booked a lot on at those types of parties. He's even playing the breakcore stage at PRSPCT. He's had a huge influence on it. Though I reckon most of it is a bit too ruff for him.

Lol that's funny
I always thought of Remarc as the most street music and AFX, Squarepusher as some of the least.

No, not directly but most of the rest of the acts during that time (and that show) was, if not breakcore, then at least drill or like squarepusher/afx territory.
He seemed to enjoy himself and that people were more hippies than usually in his shows. I don't think he drinks.
Tbh most of the cats coming over (denmark) are so positive because they are used to people checking for their gear setups and yelling for rewinds etc - which just isn't a thing when there isn't a scene as such.
Oh and I think it was sort of a surprise for him, how much people outside of jungle knew his work when mu picked him up again.

We're talking 94 and 95. Back then people listened and played anything that had a chopped up break in it. Squarepusher, Alec Empire or DJ Scud, Bizzy B, it was all fair game. Even early Panacea still got shout from the rude bwoys. The splintering didn't come until a bit later I think when indie rockers were picking up Warp and Rephlex releases but didn't bother with Suburban Base or Ambush/Bloody Fist.
Unless you're refering to breakcore too, cuz that is a different territory from Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. That's more about punk than chinstroking, culturally speaking.

Dope you got to hang out with him, though. I can imagine his shock. He's one of the most namechecked producers, though.

I've always had a bad feeling about Warp while still keeping a lookout.
Where Mu really take risks (!) and lead, I see warp as sort of an outlet of alright music for architecture students that want to be down or just a label following trends.

Dunno, Warp can't help it. They were the biggest label pushing non-dancefloor stuff, which logically will have more appeal to people who don't care much for dance floors. I think they got props from Trent Reznor (who distributed Warp releases in the US in the early days through his own label, I believe) and Radiohead, so there's that. I'm not blaming them for much. Though I haven't been a fan of much of a lot of their stuff. I don't think Warp's or Rephlex's '90s output really aged that well.

Don't talk shit, m8. Every FlyLo release on Warp is a piece of art.
