I use Vinyl as a collector's item. Same with CDs really. If I get a release digitally and rinse it out and still love it after a month, or if I'm excited about an artist I've been following for a while, then I'll grab a vinyl. Kinda like buying a t-shirt at the end of a concert.

I find mixing with vinyl the most fun way of DJing.

Despite that, I went digi about a year ago. Wish I'd done it sooner. Much cheaper, don't have to wait for the records to arrive in the post, etc there are loads of advantages. I still buy vinyl only releases that I like, but ripping them to my computer is a pain tbh. I'd sell those records in a heartbeat if they were given digi releases.

I also don't really like record shops except for second hand ones or ones with a big second hand section.

I wouldn't part with my garage and grime records though. Too many memories!

Yeah i love vinyl but it does cane the wallet.

Especially stuff like the Innaminds where you dont think twice & its 16 quid gone, let alone mindless DNR/scogs binges 'ooh might as well get this white for 6 quid + save a quid on shipping '

Even worse in irl record shops when you have genuinely nice ppl pushing mad deals & 2nd hand gems at you :corncry:

I mean apart from the producers. I remember people talking about whether it's legal, acceptable etc like me pressing my own copy of Earth A Run Red or whatever

Don't see why there's anything unnaceptable with pressing your own copy of something you like. Isn't that what 'cutting dubs' was/is all about?

if cutting your own vinyl is unacceptable then burning your own cds should be unacceptable

how much do you spend on digital downloads now then in relation to how much you used to spend on vinyl. do you buy the same amount of tracks basically?
