Except RT and Fox News purport to be News Organisations and lace their bulletins with opinion reported as fact.

Colbert and Stewart have half-hour comedy shows on a channel called Comedy Central and lace their comedy routines with satire and opinions; no different really to Spitting Image or Have I Got News For You... or do you think they're as bad as RT and Fox News too?

Personally, I think it's easy to spot the difference in "social responsibility".
Did you see my point about being a self affirming tnuc?

I saw you say that about RT, yes. Then you said merely watching John Stewart and Stephen Colbert was bad form for the "same reason", which is where I disagree. Most people who watch a comedy show about recent events know that they're watching a comedy show; they know there is a pinch of salt to be taken with every joke and a live studio audience laughing all the way through makes it fairly clear that they're not "serious" journalists. Colbert and Stewart exaggerate for comedic effect all the time and don't hide it - they're jesters who happen to be passionate about current events, but then so were Bill Hicks (who Stewart learnt his craft from), George Carlin and Richard Pryor. So were Ben Elton and Richard Curtis. None of them ever once claimed to be reading "the news", only influenced by it. Sure, some people take things too far - there are people who get their whole understanding of WW1 from the last episode of Blackadder Foes Forth, there are people who think Bill Hicks was the world's authority on Kennedy Assassination and the first Gulf War... but the BBC never claimed Blackadder was historically accurate and Bill Hicks was a comedian who spent the rest of his time on stage pretending to be a paedophile deviant named Goatboy. Taking any comedian's word as "truth" is a moronic thing to do even according to most comedians - John Stewart happily admits to not being a journalist, but an entertainer - but believing a Fox News bulletin is what you're supposed to do. It's supposed to be true. It's supposed to be the news. It's "journalism", not entertainment.

tl;dr There is a fine, but BOLD line between the effect comedians talking about the news with bias on a channel with "Comedy" in its very name can have on society and news companies giving "reports" laden with bias that they never admit to.

It's just easier to consider two standards of equal size because it seems like dualism and you get to throw all your nonsensical bullshit western buddhism at it - instead of understanding what is going on.

The same thing can even happen with grown ups and their understanding of communism and nationalism.

Allow me to clarify then, I never said that it's bad form to be the comedians, I'm saying viewing it and taking it as seriously as many people do is.

I've actually used these. do you think they make you talk racism?
"Clears your throat and helps you maintain great voice projection while you're threatening your
plantation workers. Spout racial slurs for days on end, with the help of Nigroids Liquorice Pellets™."

They do the job.

Just to clarify, Bad form isn't Fedora/Cringe, which is why there's another thread, I figured it was a more popular expression but it encumpasses things like:

Not cleaning up after your dog when you take it for a poop walk.
Smoking more of a spliff's worth of someone else's weed without them when you haven't payed/asked.
Reading someone's personal and private diary/journal without permission.
Being teased within a group of 'friends' and physically/verbally assaulting the weakest member because they laughed at some pretty good cracks at your expense.
Sharing nudes without permission.
Taking both arm rests when there are people on both sides of you on a crowded bus or an economy class flight.
Getting aggy in a slap-boxing match. There's always one friend who does this.

These should demonstrate more clearly what I mean, the OP were some personal ones.
Could even post your daily acts of bad form, for things that don't necessarily need to be in the confessions thread

From the first one it is easy to infer that the person who is making the statement has visited three friends, in the second it really only seems like they've visited two friends; one named Sean and the other named Wallace and Gromit.
Lol. Who would ever think that? Just having ", and" looks weird.

I agree that Young Turks can be kinda cringey and annoying at times and Cenk is a bit of a dork, but bad form? That doesn't really make sense. I mainly watch it only if I'm bored because they are on every single day with many videos so that's basically my last resort if I am bored. If there were 2 hours of Colbert everyday I would just watch that lol

Also I view them as more of an informative show than funny/entertaining, because they're not that funny or entertaining, except for Jimmy Dore and the gay dude, they can both be funny at times. Young Turks covers stories that you won't find in any other large-scale news organization. Obviously you'll find them in the Wichita Times or whatever but who has time to read 50,000 newspapers everyday to find 3 or 4 good stories?

Yes, I would think it, but I'd assume otherwise though. No it doesn't.

And Jags, it's bad form because you encourage them to make more videos if you keep watching.
