album, the single version is fine, but on the album it sounds like someone cut off the lows and converted it into 128 kbps. total abomination  :|

judge for yourself - 30 second WAV cut ripped straight off the CD (maybe it sounds better on vinyl, but i kinda doubt it)

since my first dubplate i'm having trouble cueing up with the first sound coming in. it keeps jumping and this happens just with dubplates.

anyone has an idea what the problem might be? maybe because of a ''sharp'' transient as the first sound?
already thought of doing a 4-bar-metronom-intro for the dubs.

Might have something to do with the fact that jason only cuts at 33rpm on 10" dubs these days

I just find i have to heinously boost the lows tbh

They seem to skip easier too when queuing

Dubs Jumping on cue up has got nothing to do with playback speed,It could be caused by a lot of reasons and without inspecting the offending dub I would only be guessing.
Re cutting speed;
Unless requested to do otherwise we have always cut 10's @ 33 rpm ,it reduces groove distortion by keeping the modulated grooves closer to the outer edge,Whereas on a 12" you have another couple of inches to play with ,so assuming the track is not too long a 12" will normally be cut @ 45rpm.
If In the future I cut a dub for anyone and it jumps or will not cue up (first play) then by all means drop me a quick email at the studio and as ever we will endeavour to put it right.
Regards
Jason

hi jason!
tbh. i have never thought - and still don't think - that the problem is at your side, jason - therefor i never emailed you concerning this. ;-)

i'll try a few things on my side first (different sound as a cue point, 4-bar-click-intro, fading in white noise...).

need to add that i have always been very happy with all the dubs cutted by you and i'll be sticking to your cutting house - no matter if it concerns dubs or a proper release master.
1love

i just noticed that on my copy of kromestar's 'my sound' the track 'go away' (E2) has some really weird distortion / noise on it. anybody having the same issue?

I was testing my copy of Breakage - Higher the other day and it sounds flat. The bass needs a serious boost and then it's more or less OK. I wonder if it's just my copy or the whole pressing.

I can't really remember what mine sounds like but are you comparing it to the digital version or when its been played on Rinse, by Yunx or whatever, because everything on Rinse sounds like its had a big bass boost.

Noticed this weekend that Medusa and Orion labels are the wrong way round on the Gorgon Sound EP.

Something wrong about Kryptic Minds - Namaste, sounds like there is a bandpass on it or something

on my LAS - Your Eyes EP plate with Aspect on it. The tune sounds sick but at almost the very end there is almost like a digital artifcat or something cause it gets all distorted and crazy sounding
