Yes, this. Turkey is superior if cooked right, but cooking it right, especially if you're roasting a whole bird takes a lot more time and care than a chicken. Too easy to dry out.
Leftover turkey curry.

I'm the one scrooge that always has beef at xmas

An ex-girlfriend of mine's Mum had a chip on her shoulder about turkey being shit (she thought it was for 'commoners'

*); always did Beef or Ham for Christmas. It's just not right. A house should smell of roasting turkey on Christmas Day.
*she also once caused an argument at a work do by refusing to order someone a lager & lime.

The last couple of christmas days I've only just woken up in time for the food and hardly been able to eat anything, going to make an effort to be up before 12 this year

When was the last time someone said "You've ruined Christmas!" in your household, Ninjas?
The only time I can remember was when my brother went AWOL after going to midnight mass with his mates - I guess he was about 15, so I was around 11. My Mum noticed at something like 3am that he'd not come home, so got my Dad up and made him drive around the area looking for him. By the time they got in, my brother was sitting in the kitchen, steaming drunk eating toast like nothing had happened. My Mum threw and uncharacteristically venomous tantrum and I woke up to hear her shouting the immortal words. After that, Christmas was entirely normal. She's such a liar.

What is you brits' christmas TV like?
In norway the tradition is real as fuck, there's definitely a strict set of things that have to be shown each year. Frist and foremost this old english language sketch I should really remember the name of. It's in black and white and this countess and her butler are having a dinner party. However, all her old aristocratic friends who would usually attend are dead. So her butler just goes around the table drinking everyone's drink and saying cheers as those people, while the countess salutes as if they are there. There's like 4 rounds of drinks so he keeps getting drunker and drunker
