imagine we were talking about self harm (same thing IMO), as i said earlier, there would be such a different response from you gaylords, think about that.

yeah not saying it can't be the product of lobbying but it's kinda dumb/useless (cause noone will care) nowadays to come out saying second hand smoke isn't that dangerous cause everyone sorta got used to 30 years of anti-smoking lobbying

and "health" should be left in the hands of individuals. insurance companies, the state, your employer etc don't care about your health per se, they just need you healthy and able to work, especially in modern societies where people are having less and less children.

people are so impressionable that we need guidance, i see what you're saying but i do disagree in that respect. being obese should not be socially acceptable, it is solvable, quite easily actually. it being considered a 'disease' is a joke. it's like being lazy, is that a disease? no.

It's only the same thing in the sence that both are harmful.

There's a world of difference to how it shows on the person.

Obesity is the objective resignation, whereas selfharm can be concealed for a long time. I dont think you have to be goth :6:

There's also the fact that obesity is gradual. There's not a lot of steps in selfharming. But the fact that everyone can be a little too fat once in a while means, we all have language available or nuance to really hurt it from the vanity side.

think it has more to do with obesity leading to disease than it being a disease itself

i dont know, if it becomes possible to apply the 'disease' tag on stuff in a political sence and in that way expand on what a disease is and get it cured, then fine .. i really dont think its the pedantic side of it that matters - - it really is about appealing to people in a way that makes sence for the course politically
- populism maybe
