Thanks for the good words earlier on -- but, the ref didnt prevent Hatton from punching inside. The ref prevented Hatton from holding. That's what a good ref does.
4 criteria for scoring a fight:
1. clean punching
2. effective aggressiveness
3. ring generalship
4. defense -- with an emphasis on clean punching.
Hatton did none of these things, especially with regard to point 2, effective aggressiveness. Hatton could have hit Mayweather on the elbows while PBF was against the ropes all night.
That's not clean punching.
Aggressive -- yes. Effective -- no.
When did Hatton control the fight? Maybe the 4th round -- that's one round out of the 10 they fought. Not exactly ring generalship.
Defense -- Hatton decided to block punches with his forehead and face. That's not defense.
Here's what was effective -- PBF's left hook in the 8th.
Clean punching -- how about PBF finishing Hatton?
Ring generalship -- check the scorecards
( i listed the final #'s in a previous post.) What's more effective than those scorecards in favor of Mayweather?
Defense -- shoulder roll. That was all night.

i was disgusted by hopkins remarks that 'he would never lose to a white man' can you imagine what would have happened if calzaghe had said he would never lose to a black man? he would be attacked by all sections of the sport, the media, and probably suspended. all rightly so as racism has no place in sport. but how is it that hopkins can get away with it?
i hope the fight does come together. i would make the trip to NYC (hopefully it would fall the same time as dubwar - that would be sweet) and hopkins will get his comeuppance.
I've heard the same thing about the a Yankee Stadium fight. That would sell out. And -- i'm not sure who wins that fight. Calzaghe will give any fighter issues -- including B-Hop. They'll get a neutral ref....
The racism angle -- Hopkins shouldn't get away with it. It's racist and wrong -- no matter who says what. What's frustrating is the "double-standard" and certain fallacies that exist in sports when it comes to black people and white people. Black QB's in the NFL are athletic. White QB's in the NFL are intelligent. White db's are slower than black db's in the NFL. There are no good white wide receivers in the NFL. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Shit -- Hollywood has taken the "double-standard/fallacy" a step further. 15 years ago, a movie called "White Men Can't Jump" debuted in theatres.
You can draw your own conclusions -- I'll leave it at this...i know plenty of white men that can jump and plenty of black men that can't jump. Yours truly -- let's just say that i won't get any technical fouls for hanging on the rim.
I can dunk a donut....I can slam a door, but i can do neither of the aforementioned with a basketball.

READ THIS POST. Who exactly has Mayweather ducked? PBF = superior competition.
Hatton -- not so much.
